Fazal‘s love for Malir has been exemplary. He belonged to a very religious Baloch clan recognized as Rinds. He studied in Jamia Millia College, Malir before joining Dow of Batch of ‘79. He enjoyed the company of Shershah, Irshad Khoso, Abdul Wahid, Mohammad et al in the years of formation. Noiselessly, he completed the tenure of Dow in oblivion. House job with Malik Ali Shaikh and Professor Noor Ellahie in Surgical Unit IV was a treasurable learning time for him. He remembers Noor Ellahie as brother in law of General Ziaul Haq, but in his own right a thoroughly professional and very self-respecting person. He was probably the only person in the clinical faculty of Surgery who conducted evening rounds as a matter of routine.

Fazal was commissioned by the Health Department Government of Sindh and was posted in Sindh Government Hospital in Malir. One deleterious factor linked to this service was transfers to remote areas of the province which has never savored the feel of a human foot. This helpless time arrived for Fazal in a few years. He left no stone unturned to save him from this “penalty”. The tenacious attitude of Sajan Memon, the then Director General Medical Services finally convinced him that resignation remains the only option to survive. Once free from the leverage of the Government Service, Fazal opened up his private clinic on a full time basis. From then onwards prosperous eras arrived and there was no time left for any regrets.

In the forthcoming years he reinforced his professional status by attending CME related educational programs. He has had the opportunity to travel a lot. He visited almost the whole of Asia and a greater part of Europe. This added dimensions to clinical practice and broaden his horizon about medical education in general and the advancements of the world in particular. Fazal was endowed with three sons and a daughter. The elder son is a hafiz of Quran and is devoted to religious education. All others are busy in the conventional tutelage.

Fazal feels very fulfilled with the gesture that he participated in the construction of Haji Murad Masjid in Memon Goth. He is a contented humanist and a believer that Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them, humanity cannot survive.

Long live Fazal Baloch plus Shoaib, Khalid dynamic duo. This has been a project of gigantic

proportion to continue this long. No other class in the history of Dow has been able to do this feat.

I know for a fact that there are folks from other batches of Dow who have been reading these write

ups regularly and feeling envious and very impressed by Shoaib/Khalid's perseverance.
