Abstract

The text I will translate is a research made by two students of the University of Ontario Institute of Technology in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. The main topic of this research is the use messaging, both text and instant, for teaching and learning. It is believed that using cellular phones for messaging during class decreases the process and prevents the achievement of the goal of learning and teaching, but this time, we will be able to see the other side of the coin and see how messaging can be used as a pedagogical tool.

Background

This research text by Lauricella and Kay (2013) is

Messaging in Higher Education Classrooms, and

as its name states, it is about how students use

their mobile devices to communicate while they

are at school.

Objectives

The main objective is to translate the given

article and analyze the translation problems

encountered and how they were solved

That Spanish-speaking people, especially from

my university, have access to this research in

their own language.

Literature Review

Vinay and Darbelnet (1995) said that there were

countless methods for doing a translation, but that

all those countless methods to translate could be

summed into seven principal methods, each one

of those seven corresponding to a higher degree

of complexity. They also said that the use of these seven methods could be individual or combined

(using one method along with other). They

classified those seven methods as borrowing,

calque, literal translation, transposition, modulation, equivalence and adaptation.
