 Press Note Mazdoor Haq Yatra receives complete support Jaipur 16 th September: The Mazdoor Haq Yatra, which began yesterday under the banner of the SR Abhiyan with a demand to increase minimum wages and link it to rising prices, was warmly welcomed in all blocks and villages of the four divisions that the yatra is covering over the next two weeks. The demand to increase minimum wages is much appreciated and is receiving complete support from MGNREGA workers across the four divisions. The Ajmer team started the yatra today from Kishangarh and held an ‘ aam manch’ (public forum). In Arai a public meeting was called to explain the purpose and intent of the yatra, it was attended by approximately 1000 people. Public contribution of Rs. 400 was also made to support the yatra. In Arai MGNREGA workers informed the yatra team that they were not receiving full minimum wage of Rs. 100. In Barna workers have received Rs. 650 for 13 days of work at the rate of Rs. 50 per day. In another village close by, workers said they had received Rs. 700. From Arai, the team moved on to Kada, Madhul and Tikwada. Noted social and human rights activist Pradip Prabhu will address villagers and participants at a public meeting being organized at night in Tikwada village. In Bara division the yatra covered Kelwada, Nahargarh, Jalwada, Bajrangard and Paraniya villages of Kishanganj block. Sarpanches and ward panches also joined the yatra. Kajri Bai of Shahabad Panchayat Samiti also joined the yatra today. Over 500 people signed banners supporting the demand to increase minimum wages. Money contributions were also received by the yatra teams. 125 people also signed registers and said they will attend the dharna at Statue Circle, Jaipur, which will begin on 2 nd October. In Rajsamand division, the yatra started in Jawaja and moved on to Devasa, Kotdra, Bar and reached Pali. 6 public meetings were organized through the day to discuss the yatra demands and other implementation issues related to MGNREGA. Here too workers came forward with grievances related to fewer wage. Workers said that they had received Rs. 40-45 In Jodhpour division the yatra began from Sherkhand block and a public meeting was organized in Khetnagar gram panchayat. Villagers and MGNREGA workers expressed their full support with the demands to increase minimum wages and over 300 people signed banners in support of these demands and said they will participate in the Jaipur dharna.
