TIPs for Classroom Activities

1. Give students time to practice with the unit dialogues.2. Pay attention to pronunciation practice.3. Try to start class with a warm up game if possible.4. Make power points for the key parts.5. Give lots of examples with the grammar points and pronunciation.6. Have students form sentences using the grammar points learned either individually or as a group. Then, share their sentences with the whole class. 7. Work examples through with the students in the classroom.


7. Since there is so much to cover, instructors should try to….

7.1 focus on conversation and practice speaking in class.

7.2 set some exercises and activities in the textbook as

homework to save class time.

7.3 ensure topics in the final test are covered at least if running

out of time to cover the book.

7.4 assign group work at the end of the class and give students some time to complete the work outside of the class period before presenting it to the whole class.


8. For presentation unit, instructors should….

8.1 ask students to present a topic already covered in the book.

8.2 expand on the topics learned from the book by focusing on teaching the key signal language and parts of the presentation.

8.3 give students 2 minutes speaking time per student in a group without reading their notes.

Your students may crawl, walk, run, or fly depending on their ability to communicate

the language.As an instructor, be sure to make adjustments to suit their ability.
