international reputation for the quality of its work.

The Centre for Language Study at the University of Southampton is a long-established

teaching centre with a considerable reputation for expertise in the field of teaching and

learning languages. The Centre is technically advanced and is an acknowledged leader in the

field of open learning and particularly multimedia and hypermedia applications.

Accommodation:

The University of Southampton has over 5,000 single rooms in our Halls of Residence which

are in easy reach of the University’s main campus. We will try to ensure that University

accommodation is available for those students who would prefer this option but it cannot

be guaranteed and is more likely to be available for students starting on 29 January 2018 in

Semester 2.

The alternative to Hall accommodation is to live in the private rented sector. A

comprehensive and up-to-date list of the rooms, bedsits, shared houses, flats and lodgings

in the local is maintained and is available from the University’s Accommodation Office.

The Accommodation Office offers a free and confidential service covering all Hall matters,

general housing matters, tenancy law and other related issues. In addition, the Office has a

range of booklets, leaflets and maps offered free of charge to our students and there is a

dedicated telephone service available to answer any accommodation related enquiries you

may have.
