An Industrial & Engineering Business Exposition

26-28 October 2012, Government College for Women, Ludhiana

After the success of the 1st edition of ‘Destination Punjab 2011’, held in Amritsar, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is happy to announce the 2nd edition of Destination Punjab, a B2B exposition from Friday 26 October 2012 to Sunday 28 October 2012 at Ludhiana. The event is an extension of CII’s theme for Punjab - “Punjab Going Global – The Sustainable Way” with a special focus on ’Indigenisation of Defence Procurement’. The event presents an excellent opportunity to explore and tap the diverse engineering industry of Punjab.

With the growth of user industries, inception of several new projects in various core industries and the capacity creation in sectors like infrastructure, automobiles, auto components etc.; the engineering sector in India has grown at a large scale and is expected to see a brighter future.

The emerging trends such as outsourcing of engineering services that provides newer opportunities for growth has inspired Destination Punjab 2012 to showcase Punjab as a fast emerging hub for the engineering industry. It has been strongly supported by the Industrial centres like Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Mandi Gobindgarh which already are home to many engineering firms operating at the global level.

However, the challenges are to maintain this growth momentum & remain qualitatively competitive which requires business expansion, creating new and strong business linkages, exploring supply chains, accessing untapped markets. Thus, Destination Punjab aims at providing a platform to the industry players to explore the endless engineering opportunities in the land of Punjab.

The Defence sector is another untapped market for Punjab Industry. India imports as much as 70% of its defence equipment & spares from abroad. The opportunity to offset this dependence and indigenise India’s defence procurement is expected to be as large as 12 billion dollars, over the next ten years. Destination Punjab is featuring a concurrent show ‘Defence Arena’, a focused exposition on the defence sector, a platform for Punjab Industry to explore potential business opportunities. The defence sector needs not just high tech, precision engineering parts or electronic systems, but also basic items like high altitude / speciality clothing, auto components, steelware, light electricals and even processed food to name a few.

So don’t miss a chance to engineer you opportunities into profits.

Defence is the next big opportunity for Punjab Industry. The sector holds immense promise for Punjab Industry to be noticed not only at the national level but also in the international arena.

To enhance the share of the state in the production and supply of defence equipment, the decision of the Government of India to indigenise the defence sector offers a huge opportunity for Punjab industry. The potential of Punjab industry is proficient enough to serve this demand of indigenising assemblies, sub-assemblies and components as India, currently, imports spares worth INR 100000 crore every year. This will help India to become self-sufficient.

In view of the overall need to modernise its defence capabilities, India’s armed forces are expected to increase their purchases of new equipment and technology. However, the scope of offset policy guidelines has been expanded to include civil aero-space, internal security and training. These policy interventions will provide a wider range of offset opportunities to vendors and enhance indigenous manufacturing capability.

The Defence Zone will feature representatives from the various arms and branches of the armed forces of India. Destination Punjab offers an opportunity to Punjab Industry to join the elite club of defence suppliers and contractors. The distinct & specials session are planned on:
