(“SUMMIT”) was founded in the Charlotte-Metropolitan area by three experienced professionals, Douglas Curley, Andrew Coffey and Robert McDonnell, in 2004. SUMMIT has since diversified into a multi-dis-ciplinary consulting firm offering engineering and support services including full-service Environmental, Geotechnical, Subsurface Drilling, Special Inspections, Materials Testing, Forensic and Structural Engineering departments backed by a full-service NCDOT Tier III, AMRL, CCRL and AASHTO certified Laboratory.
Since SUMMIT’s founding, the company has experienced a consistent and steady expansion in all of our service sectors, capabilities, clientele and team members. With five office locations serving North and South Carolina, SUMMIT is poised for continued growth within our existing markets in addition to exploring new opportunities throughout the Carolinas. Our five offices are located in Charlotte (HQ) and Raleigh, North Carolina and Columbia, Greenville and Charleston, South Carolina.
Serving both the Public and Private sectors, our services are utilized on an extensive variety of projects within the Residential, Commercial, Transpor-tation, Multi-Family, Healthcare, Retail, Hospitality, Industrial and Govern-ment sectors.

Douglas Curley is a co-founder of Summit, a veteran of the U.S. Army, and has extensive experience in the engineering and construction services

Robert McDonnell
Robert McDonnell is a co-founder of Summit and has a great deal of hands-on experience in the engineering and construction services
industry ranging from field and laboratory testing to project management. Mr. McDonnell is responsible for supervising, scheduling and training all field staff and performing calibration of field and laboratory testing equipment. Jason Coble is a graduate of North Carolina State University with a wide variety of experience in the construction and engineering industry,
much of which includes project management on large-scale capital university, municipal, and commercial projects. He has extensive experience with Geotechnical, Structural, and Civil projects and understands how each of these aspects interfaces on a given project. Michael Zavislak is recognized as one of the top professionals in the Southeast in the field of
Environmental Engineering. Previously employed by the U.S. Department of Energy and South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, Mr. Zavislak is a registered Professional Engineer, Certified industrial hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), certified Environmental Analytical Chemist, and licensed for Asbestos and Lead-Based Paint in North and South Carolina. Dennis Pilarczyk, P.E.Structural Department Manager
Dennis Pilarczyk is a graduate of North Carolina State University. He has been involved in many aspects of the engineering and construction services
industry, ranging from project management to field and laboratory engineering and testing. He has a wide range of experience working with local and national homebuilders on many projects of varying scales. His expertise includes structural design and on-site field engineering for more than 1,000 residential and small commercial projects. He leads SUMMIT’s structural engineering team on a daily basis, and carries Professional Engineer registrations in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. Andrew Coffey is a co-founder of Summit, and has worked with countless clients in the commercial and higher-education sectors, among
others, on projects including construction inspections, QA/QC, structural design, project management, and municipal engineering. Mr. Coffey is experienced in performing, managing and providing technical consulting for a wide range of Construction Materials Testing and Special Inspection projects in addition to Geotechnical and Environmental Engineering. Robert McDonnell is a co-founder of Summit and has a great deal of hands-on experience in the engineering and construction services
