in control

MoTeC have developed a range ofadvanced Engine ManagementSystems designed to cater for alltypes of users. Whether you arerunning a street car, touring car, rally car, formula car, motorbike ora boat, MoTeC have a system to suitboth you and your budget.

Tuning an engine correctly can betime consuming with some systems.MoTeC provides management

systems that offer ease of tuning, flexibility and maximum power togive you that winning edge. Yourgoal is to maximise horsepowerand reliability! At MoTeC weprovide the tools to do just that. Thekey variables of ignition advance,air-fuel ratio, injection timing (andboost level on forced inductionengines) are easily tuned to ensurethe best performance and reliability.

All MoTeC Engine ManagementSystems are fully configurable, allowing them to be programmed tosuit all types of engines including 2stroke, 4 stroke and rotary.

Not just in competition use either, many performance applicationengines controlled by MoTeC

Engine Management Systems haveachieved emissions certification.

Advanced FeaturesMoTeC Engine ManagementSystems offer highly advancedfeatures including: traction control, launch control, overrun boostenhancement, data logging, gearchange ignition cut, gear or throttleposition dependent boost control, individual cylinder tuning, wideband lambda control andmany more, either as standard oras options .

The vast majority of OriginalEquipment Manufacturers’ (OEM’s)and after market trigger systems, injectors and ignition systems canbe used with MoTeC EngineManagement Systems (ECU’s).This avoids the cost and timeneeded to remanufacture thesesystems to suit the ECU.

ECU MODELS

The MoTeC M4 and M48 EngineManagement Systems (ECU’s) will suitmost applications ranging from 1 to12 cylinders and rotary engines.Within each model there arevarious upgrade options.

M4 Clubman

The M4 Clubman is our 4 cylindersequential and rotary engine ECUdesigned to provide you with themost common features at thelowest possible cost. The M4 isthe most compact and lightweightmodel in the MoTeC ECU range.

The M4 represents excellent valuewith four injector drivers controllingengines up to four cylinders insequential injection mode or twelvecylinders in group fire mode.

It features full 3D Mapping and, although predominantly designedfor performance street cars andbikes, by choosing the optionalupgrade features (advanced tuning, logging and lambda) it is alsoideally suited for competition use.

The M4 Clubman can be upgradedto the features of the M4 Pro at anytime later.

M4 Pro

The M4 Pro has the AdvancedTuning and Data Logging option asstandard. The Advanced Tuningoffers traction control, boostenhancement (anti-lag), gear changeignition cut, wide band lambdacontrol* and greater configurability.

M48 Clubman

The M48 represents excellentperformance and value with eightinjector drivers controlling enginesup to eight cylinders in sequentialinjection mode, or twelve cylindersin group fire mode.

The M48’s capability provides theideal solution for competition use, performance street cars and bikeswith full 3D mapping, optionalupgrades for advanced tuning, logging and lambda.

The M48 Clubman can be upgradedto the features of the M48 Pro atany time later.

M48 Pro

Like the M4 Pro, the M48 Pro hasthe Advance Tuning and DataLogging option as standard. Thisoffers traction control, boostenhancement (anti-lag), gearchange ignition cut and greaterconfigurability. The Pro is forleading edge engines up to eightcylinders where peak performanceis required.

COMPATIBILITY

FEATURES

The MoTeC M4 and M48 Engine Management Systems (ECU’s) share similararchitecture and componentry. At the heart of the MoTeC M4 and M48 ECU’sis a 32 bit 33MHz microprocessor with time co-processor. The electronics areproduced on an automated robotic assembly line to ISO 9002 standards.

SOFTWARE

MoTeC software has been designedwith the emphasis on useability, enabling you to quickly optimisethe set up of your vehicle. It is bothuser friendly for the beginner and apowerful tool for experts. Allsoftware is menu driven and hasextensive help screens.

EMP Tuning Software

The EMP software is designed forset-up, tuning and diagnostics ofthe ECU. Tuning may be done online with the ECU connected, oroffline and then sent to the ECU at

a later time. The EMP softwareallows for viewing of all sensorreadings, output settings, statusreading, compensations anddiagnostic errors. It has manypowerful features including quickLambda, which allows the fuel to beautomatically adjusted to the correctvalue at the press of a button*.

Other features include: 3D graphingof calibration tables, site target, testing of fuel, ignition andauxiliary outputs, file comparison, table interpolation, table copy, tableexport, table mathematics for morerapid tuning and online help.

Interpret - Analysis SoftwareThe Interpret software providesadvanced tools to assist users inanalysing the logged data quicklyand efficiently. Data can becollected from any of the MoTeC

ECU’s internal log memory, bytelemetry†, or by direct connectionto a PC. The information containedwithin the log files can be viewednumerically or graphically in anumber of formats. The ability totake numerical data and render itgraphically is a powerful tool forunderstanding the interrelationshipscontained in the data.

All MoTeC software updates are available free of charge from our website at www.motec.com.au.

This policy allows you to maintain the very latest in technology and features for many years to come.

UPGRADES

All ECU’s have various options which are field upgradeable using a passwordand enabling system. Upgrade options include:

• Advanced Tuning – Upgrades an M4/M48 Clubman to all of the advancedfeatures of a Pro, including Data Logging.

• Data Logging – Enables the 512Kbyte data logging memory. With 512k ofmemory, the user can quickly verify the operation of the vehicle engine

during "on track" conditions. All MoTeC

ECU’s are capable of recording theengines operating parameters at 1, 2, 5 10or 20 times per second.

The data may then be downloaded to acomputer and analysed using the MoTeC

Interpreter software. Data logging isstandard on the ‘Pro’ ECU’s.

• Wideband Lambda (Air Fuel Ratio) – Enables the use of our high accuracyfully temperature compensated Wideband Lambda (mixture strength)sensor. This feature is free on the M4/M48 for the first six hours running toassist with the initial set-up and tuning.

• Telemetry

• Remote Logging (requires Telemetry option)

See specifications and Model Comparison table for further details.

Choose from a wide range of sensors for use with the ECU’s including:temperature, position, accelerometers, speed, pressure and many others.

With a MoTeC system you can beassured of the highest level ofcustomer support; our dealers arefully trained to the MoTeC standardand comprehensive information isprovided at the MoTeC website(including downloadable diagrams, software and application notes).

MoTeC also conducts seminarswith worldwide experts on enginemanagement and data acquisition. All backed up by a full two yearworldwide warranty.
