Overview of Global Good Implementers Meeting

Global Good Implementers Meeting

• All-day meeting held December 13, 2018 following GDHF

• Goal: To bring together partners who were awarded funds through Digital Square Notices A and B to discuss key issues and challenges in the digital health global good space.

• Attended by 43 participants representing 13 global goods and some members of the PRC

Recommendations from the Meeting

• Allow more time and space for the global good community engagement

• Follow up with more information on the Digital Square and DIAL joint strategy to support the global good community

• Include implementers approved from all Notice cycles, not just those who received funding

Augment support to global goods who received funding through Digital Square Notices process through an (expanding) Basket of Services:

• Communications Global Goods Guidebook; news and announcements shared across our website, wikis, and social channels; strategic communications workshops; blog writing guidance

• Community Thought partner on TORs, governance, licensing • Knowledge Management Launching digital resource library for implementation materials • Engineering Support QA, integration testing - Instant OpenHIE, interoperability guidance• Operations Support Onboarding for various types of financial mechanisms, donor requirements

Who is the DHIS2 Community?

An ever-growing group of people around the world with a passion for DHIS2, and have unique reasons for and experiences with using DHIS2.

The DHIS2 community includes, but is not exclusive to, software developers, donors, technical staff in governments and NGOs, program managers, local implementers, and researchers.

Why a DHIS2 CoP?

• The DHIS2 community was longing for one central place to connect with each other, to find relevant resources, to share user-stories and solutions, and to ask for support.

• Community members wanted to know if other members had encountered a particular issue and challenge, and, if so, how they solved it.

• Could they avoid “reinventing the wheel”? What lessons could community members learn from the experience of others and could they apply them to their particular situation?

What is the DHIS2 CoP?

• Single platform for community members to interact and engage with each other

• Launched in November 2018 to be the “one-stop shop” for everything DHIS2

• A place for members to reach out to each other, initiate discussions, ask questions, get support, provide solutions for each other and share experiences

4 core pillars of the CoP: Share, Learn, Support and Connect

What is the DHIS CoP?

• Community members create and curate the content - we want more!

• Over 2,000 members - 100 new members this past month

• In the past month: 1000 new posts and 140 new topics

• Support category is the most popular - would like to see more community engagement in other categories

• Develop sub-CoPs based on demand from community (e.g. case-based surveillance)

• Sub-CoPs will allow for more specialized and nuanced conversations. These will feed back to the larger DHIS2 community.

• The CoP is accessed daily by over 1,500 community members

Basic Principles of the DHIS2 CoP

Community Voice Heard

The CoP and the community engagement is all part of the larger software development and implementation process of DHIS2.

The community contributes with requirements and comments on mockups and impacts the roadmap

The community contributes with best practices and implementation issues which feeds into implementation guides, documentation and e.g. WHO modules
