The idea of HES
• Respond to European Union environmental priorities andthe UNWTO Davos Process on Tourism and ClimateChange of 2007.
• Help tourism sector SMEs to increase the energyefficiency and promote the use of renewable energies.
• Help hotels reduce their operational costs, increasecompetitiveness and sustainability and assist in mitigatingthe sector’s CO2 emissions.

www.nezeh.euThe Nearly Zero Energy Hotels (neZEH) is a response to the EuropeanDirective on the energy performance of buildings (2010/31/EU, EPBD recast),contributing directly to the EU 2020 targets and supporting EU Member Statesin their national plans for increasing the number of nZEBs.
neZEH initiative aims at accelerating the rate of refurbishment of existinghotels into Nearly Zero Energy Buildings (nZEB) by providing: POLICIES Recommendations for adapting nZEB directive for the hotel
sector neZEH toolkit for SMEs hotels to comply with nZEB directive, through
demonstration and front runners
