Quality Engineering Solutions

Dunnair Quality Engineering SolutionsDunnair is now firmly positioned as a leading supplier to the air conditioning industry.

The name Dunnair is synonymous with high quality products in the commercial air-conditioning industry. Beginning with Dunn Air Conditioning in 1961 and more recently, Dunnair International and Dunnair Australia, the company continues to be a leading importer and supplier of air-conditioning brands for the Australian market.

In 1994, the company was bought by Multistack and renamed Dunnair International. In 2004, Ernest Ugazio acquired the sales and subsequently state service department of Dunnair. This led to the company being divided into separate entities: Dunnair International and Dunnair Australia, the former focused on Multistack Chiller sales and spare parts; while the latter began design and development of a split ducted and rooftop packaged range that was manufactured in China.

The CHILLEDFLOW Fan Coil Units shown in this brochure are part of Dunnair’s range of high quality units for every application. Dunnair has also become the first choice when individual engineering solutions are required. Fast-moving and responsive, Dunnair supplies made-to-measure HVAC solutions to a growing number of high profile developments across Australia.

Dunnair research and development plus a strict quality control program have been fundamental to our growth, success and reputation. Dunnair units are manufactured in accordance with strict quality control standards and are MEPS rated and developed for Australian conditions.

Range: Dunnair’s two modern factories manufacture 16 separate product lines and some 600 different models. Dunnair can supply most products the HVAC industry requires. This new product line of CHILLEDFLOW Fan Coil Units is proof that the company is working continuously to improve its product range and the efficiency of its products.

Specialised Solutions: Dunnair will engineer and manufacture equipment to suit the application and building design. No challenge will go unaccepted. We will design and make special products as required for the building, mining, transport and maritime industry. We employ mechanical engineers in all sales offices in Australia. Their role is dedicated to supporting designers to achieve their goals.

Our promise to the system designers is: “Tell us what you need and we will work with you to deliver”.

With a head office in Melbourne, Dunnair has offices in New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and Tasmania.Dunnair maintains a dedicated engineering and sales support staff waiting to assist you with technical and product information and provide valuable solutions for your project.

Dunnair will design, build and deliver HVAC equipment to meet the most stringent specifications and difficult applications.

CounterFlow Energy Recovery VentilatorThe newly released CounterFlow Energy Recovery Ventilator series is a product that implements “heat recovery” technology by combining both heat exchanger and ventilator in the one unit.

With heat recovery, fresh outdoor air is treated by the exhausted indoor air via the heat exchanger. Treated means that the incoming fresh air stream flows counter to the outgoing exhaust air through the heat exchanger – the incoming air picks up energy via the heat exchanger from the exhaust air (see Figure 1).

Put simply: In summer, hot outdoor air will become “cooler” when entering the building and vice versa in winter. Energy consumption of a heating/cooling system of building will be greatly reduced as less energy will be used to cool down or heat incoming fresh air. As a result, optimal indoor air can be maintained at a lower cost.

Counterflow units are capable of achieving 70% energy recovery, making them ideal for using in commercial and domestic buildings to reduce running cost, achieve higher energy star rating and give the occupiers a quality working environment.

• Effective ventilation – Total Fresh air supply

• High efficiency energy recovery over 70%

• Low noise – silent operation

• Filters can be fitted to suit different applications

• Easy access for maintenance

• Supply airflow from 80 (L/s) to 5000 (L/s)

A heat sensing exchanger can be provided as an option.

Please contact our local Dunnair sales office for support.

The Core of a heat exchanger is formed by plates of specially made paper, chemically treated on the surface, called heat transfer clapboard. The corrugated plates and flat plates are placed staggered against each other, glued together to form a cube shape. Such structure enables the Core to have greater capacity of heat transfer and moisture permeability. When there exist differences of air temperature and partial vapour pressure in any two sides of the Core, heat transfer and moisture transfer will be triggered. Thus the total heat exchange process starts.

Selection Guide1. Select different installation types of fresh air system based on building construction. According to various site conditions, air return

positions of our Counterflow Energy Recovery Ventilator series products can be adjusted to simplify the installation processes .

How to Read the Model Number

LPCM–80–T(S):

Product type: Low Profile Ceiling Mounted Energy Recovery Ventilator

Air Volume calculate as: 80 L/S

Heat Exchanger type: T: Total Heat Exchanger S: Sensible Heat Exchanger

SCM (C)–40–T(S):

Product type: SCM: Standard Ceiling Mounted Energy Recovery Ventilator SCMC: Standard Ceiling Mounted Energy Recovery Ventilator With Coil

Air Volume calculate as: 40 x 10 = 400 L/S

Heat Exchanger type: T: Total Heat Exchanger S: Sensible Heat Exchanger

HCV (H)–11–T(S):

Product type: HCV: High Capacity Floor Standing Vertical Type Energy Recovery Ventilator HCH: High Capacity Floor Standing Horizontal Type Energy Recovery Ventilator

Air Volume calculate as: 11 x 100 = 1100 L/S

Heat Exchanger type: T: Total Heat Exchanger S: Sensible Heat Exchanger

2. Select suitable fresh air volume based on room type, room area and number of occupiers

3. Select model and number of equipments based on fresh air volume required

Room TypeNormal

SickroomGymnasium

Theaters and Department

StoreOffice

Internet Bar

Dining Room

Function Room

Guest Room

Meeting Room

Fresh Air Volume per person q(l/s) 1.5 – 3.0 0.5– 2.0 0.5 –1.5 2.0 – 4.5 11.0 – 27.5 5.5 –14.0 16.5 – 39.0 8.0 – 21.0 14.0 – 34.5

Fresh Air Circulation Turnover n(times/h) 1.0–2.5 0.5–1.5 1.0–2.5 1.5–4.0 2.5–6.2 1.0–3.4 3.5–8 1.8–4.5 3.1–7.6

Before choosing fresh air volume needed for the room, other factors such as room space and number of occupiers in that room also need to to be considered. Calculate the fresh air volume separately based on “Fresh Air Volume per person” and “Fresh Air Circulation Turnover” respectively in the above table, and take the greater value from the two results as your key selection value .

Example

Meeting room area: S = 40 (m2), net height: H = 4 (m), occupiers: N = 20 (person), if calculation is based on fresh air volume per person, take q =20 then the fresh air volume required in this room is: Q1 = N x q=20 x 20 = 400 (l/s)

If calculation is based on fresh air ventilate turnover, take n = 7 (times/h).

then the fresh air volume is Q2 = n x S x H = 7 x 40 x 4 = 1120 (m3/h )=311 (l/s).

Because Q1 > Q2, Q1, (400 l /s) shall be selected as the key criterion of system selection.
