EIM’s 2007 RISK MANAGERS INFORMATION MEETINGApproximately 300 people gathered Feb. 25-27 at the Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate,

was introduced during the business sessions and carried through the Monday night dinner and the Casino Royale party that turned the attendees into “high rollers.”

The meeting’s first guest speaker, Peter Fusaro,addresses “Climate Change and the EnergyIndustry.” Peter is the founding president ofGlobal Change Associates, an energy and envi-ronmental consulting firm that was establishedin 1991. His two most recent books are Energyand Emissions: Collision or Convergence andEnergy & Environmental Hedge Funds: TheNew Investment Paradigm.

Author Kevin Mitnick concludes Monday’s busi-ness session with a presentation on the ease ofgetting necessary information to invade comput-er systems in a variety of corporate settings.Using both technical and non-technical means,Kevin has gained unauthorized access to com-puter systems at some of the largest corporationsin the world. His best-selling books are The Artof Deception and The Art of Intrusion.

Steven Drews, Aon, leads Tuesday’s businesssession with a presentation titled “GlobalClimate Change and Weather Modeling.”Steve’s meteorology career began in 1991 withWeather Data, Inc. In 2002, he became leadmeteorologist and associate vice president forImpact Forecasting, LLC, a wholly owned sub-sidiary of Aon Re, Inc., in Chicago.

The attendees returned from the morning break to find copies of Larry Winget’s mostrecent best-selling book, It’s Called Work for a Reason, at their places. Repeatingthroughout his high-energy, “kick-butt” presentation, “success and prosperity comesfrom serving others,” Larry teaches universal principles that work for anyone in anybusiness, at any time, and does it telling funny stories. An earlier book, Shut Up,Stop Whining & Get a Life, reached number one on the Wall Street Journal’s businessbook list. A number of the attendees lined up after the presentation to have theauthor sign their copies of his newest book.

Rob Schmid, vice president and COO, Energy InsuranceServices, talks of the EIM subsidiary’s move from Bermudato South Carolina and encourages the Risk Manager Reps tovisit Greenville and explore ways in which they might useEIS in their insurance programs.

The Tuesday session closed with an IAC-led session for Members only. The focus of this year’s discussion was EIM’s newly reorganized subsidiary, Energy Insurance Services, or EIS, that is now operating from Greenville, SC.
