Autotrophs

Some Living organism are able to produce food molecules themselves by harnessing the energy in sunlight through photosynthesis. Such organism are called autotrophs or Self feeder

heterotrophs

Page 6: Energy flow and its importance

A. Primary Consumer

Page 7: Energy flow and its importance

Definition: Organisms that feed directly upon autotrophs are called primary or first level of consumer. They are commonly called as Herbivores.Example:

Eg. Eating Bird Eg. rasshopper

Page 8: Energy flow and its importance

Secondary Consumer

Page 9: Energy flow and its importance

Definition: Organism that feed upon the Primary consumers are called Secondary consumer or Secondary level consumerExample:

Eg. Owl Eg. Fox

APEX CARNIVORES

Page 11: Energy flow and its importance

Definition: The final feeder that no one directly eats is called the top or apex consumer.Example:

Eg. Tiger Eg. Eagle Eg. Leopard

OMNIVORES

Page 13: Energy flow and its importance

Definition: Organisms that feed on both autotrophsand heterotrophs are commonly called as omnivores.Example:

Page 14: Energy flow and its importance

DETRITIVORES

Page 15: Energy flow and its importance

Definition: Some organisms feed upon dead bodies of autorophic organisms they are called Detritivores. These are referred as scavenger.Example:

Eg. Crab Eg. Detrits Eg. Worms
