CONSULTING
Based on project and business experience gained in all sectors and across the globe, we have honed our own, fully-accredited
management systems. We now make those services available to clients either within an engineering project team or as an business
counsel service.
Project Review and PlanningFor any project review our activities are driven around
the project premise, with reviews driven by Energy and
Power Project Guidelines, using standard tools and
methodologies, it means that all projects are reviewed
against the same benchmark. Such planning is
fundamental to a realistic business case that considers all
costs, functional requirements and eventual
decommissioning and reinstatement.
Project Risk ManagementRisk assessment – technical, commercial and contractual
– will be carried out by the Energy and Power team based
upon the information and guidance being provided by the
client. The clear identification of risk will be a most
important aspect in the management and control of the
project, and Energy and Power will provide clear,
unambiguous reporting on all areas of cost and risk via
continually updated Risk Registers for each of the distinct
areas identified.
Due Diligence and Mergers & AcquisitionsOur Due Diligence teams provide the guidance for the
key questions of:
How much? How long? What risks exist? What mitigation measures exist?
Augmenting our core engineering design services, we
have a burgeoning experience of due diligence studies,
working on behalf of prospective purchasers of
infrastructure, assets and prospects, and as an Technical
Authority providing third-party project audit, design
verification and project reviews.

CONSULTING
Engineering VerificationEnergy and Power has a wealth of experience in facility
and process design in the offshore oil and gas industry.
Our team members possess extensive relevant technical
and management experience within this sector. In
particular our staff development systems develop team
members experience in managing facilities through the
complete project lifecycle.
An Engineering verification team will focus on key aspects
that deliver the project objectives. Where existing facilities
are in the operation phase we are able to provide guidance
on all technical and commercial aspects of field
development planning including potential brownfield capital
investments.
Client Management SystemsOur Business Consultants will review clients management
systems for Projects and Investment decision making and
where necessary improve and develop new Management
Systems aligned to the business.
Business Structure and StrategyAssistance and counsel on the implementation of robust
protocols and procedures when moving into production
and related industry areas.
Health, Safety and EnvironmentThere is no second-best solution to safety – the health of
all upon whom a development impinges is of paramount
importance; and the environment is fleetingly in our
custody, to be handed on intact or enhanced. As
consultants we undertake major HAZID and HAZOP
studies and chair workshops, with subsequent monitoring
and resolution of issues raised, develop safety cases,
carry out QRA studies and prepare the safety and record
documentation.
We are also able to support EIA studies by preparing
scopes of work, reviewing proposals and overseeing the
selected consultant.
Value Improvement
The increase in value or functionality within a cost-
controlled environment is a far more useful business tool
than simply paring or lopping elements to meet a project
budget.
Facilities and Process Design
Whether for improvements on existing or development of
new facilities, thorough scheme development is crucial to
all aspects of business and value planning.
Reliability, Availability and Maintainability
Accurate assessment of these factors is a key component
in production, operational and life cycle costing.
energyandpower.co.ukenergyandpower.co.uk
The screening, feasibility and concept stage are vital tosuccessful capital investment in any development. Thelevel and detail of work we undertake is in accordancewith the structure of the Project Guideline system, ensuring consistency of approach and focussing on keyproject drivers whilst providing clear guidance to highermanagement.
Often a local presence will be vital in assisting indeveloping a good understanding of the constraints and bebeneficial in facilitating face-to-face discussions withrelevant authorities.
The teams will be experienced in the negotiation ofconsents, approvals and adoption agreements as well as inthe technical aspects of design within their disciplines.
Energy and Power quickly define projects, providing technical definition, accurate benchmarked costs and schedule, removing
commercial and technical risks.
CONCEPT ENGINEERING
Screening and Feasibility StudiesScreening and Feasibility Studies provide Capital
Investment advice based upon limited data, of whether it
is worth investing resources into trying to acquire acreage,
drill an exploration well or start an appraisal programme.
For some developments, no obvious analogy exists, and
novel areas need specific technical and/or cost studies
undertaken to reduce the uncertainty.
After gathering more information, possible development
concepts or Options can be postulated and compared.
energyandpower.co.ukenergyandpower.co.uk
Option Selection and Concept DesignDuring Optimisation Studies any and all features of the
Base Case can be reviewed increasing technical definition
and reducing risk. Options are usually developed to a level
of a costed equipment list with factored bulks to give a
development estimate. At this stage, budget prices should
be obtained for critical items, such as vessels or rig rates.
The selected Option from the Option Selection Report
stage can be refined and honed in Concept design to
provide improved accuracy and technical definition for a
planned development and along with economic analysis
and risk reviews to provide the basis for the
commencement of a FEED study.
Conceptual Engineering Studies Design ManagementThe Energy and Power Conceptual Engineering team is made up of process, and other facilities discipline
engineering consultants with project management input. The team can be located in client offices, to ensure
liaison with your subsurface groups.
Energy and Power will always ensure that our studies are oriented at the clients’ particular needs, scopes and
methods, which rarely remain the same between developments, even for the same client.
CONCEPT ENGINEERING
energyandpower.co.ukenergyandpower.co.uk
ENGINEERING
Engineering is at the very heart of our business, and our
principal resource is our Chartered Engineering staff. Our
approach is intellectually rigorous and enquiring so that we
develop optimum and elegant solutions, not a minimally
compliant response.
To reach that efficient optimum, we integrate engineering
design from the outset, continually refining that design during
each project stage. Thus, at each decision gateway, the
engineering definition contributes to the informed executive
sanction to proceed.
Process engineering is normally the foundation of many of our
projects, and we provide expertise in each of the many sub-
specialties, such as oil, gas, LNG and petro-chemicals.
Supplementing that often central skill, are electrical,
mechanical, controls, instrumentation, structural, health safety
and environmental and civil and marine engineers. Again,
each discipline has specialists in particular aspects – such as
rotating machinery, heat transfer, safety, reliability, power
generation, commissioning and the like.
Energy and Power provides engineering, project management
and consulting services to energy companies and is active in
the following sectors:
Power Generation
Oil and gas
Pipelines
LNG

energyandpower.co.ukenergyandpower.co.uk
Many of the oil developments in question are located in
remote territories, usually remote from any existing
infrastructure (towns, suitable roads, pipelines, power
grid…).
Energy and Power will start by assessing the most
appropriate location for the facility, which is not always
adjacent to the well site and we will initiate design and
planning for additional infrastructure outside of the facility
as well as the facility itself. This may include roads,
pipelines, storage tanks, process (separation) equipment,
export (tanker) loading facilities and control cabin, in
addition to perimeter fencing, power requirements,
lighting and security considerations.
Energy and Power will produce a multi-discipline basic
engineering package for the process facilities, tanker
loading facility and pipeline to enable procurement and
contracting activities to follow. The bid process and
evaluations will be undertaken by the Energy and Power
team on behalf of the client. We have experience in
undertaking engineering and project/procurement
management for the project and we can also manage the
award and subsequent co-ordination of the equipment
packages and facilities construction.
ENGINEERING SERVICES
GAS STORAGEStoring gas in depleted oil and gas fields or in salt caverns
allows suppliers to build stocks when demand is low, and
release them when demand and/or prices are higher.
Storage facilities give our Clients the opportunity to
maximise arbitrage capacities as they can regulate the
release of imported volumes into the market, and hence
preventing price falls in the wake of, say, a large shipment
of liquefied natural gas, or alternatively, allow more gas on
to the market to take advantage of price rises or to service
consumer requirements.
EARLY PRODUCTION FACILITIESEnergy and Power has provided design and support
services for a number of Early Production (or Extended
Well Test) Facilities, predominantly for onshore oil
discoveries. Early Production is usually key to the success
of onshore oil production: as well as proving the
availability of resources and the techniques employed to
extract the oil, it provides an opportunity to sell product
into the local market and generate early revenues.
Energy and Power design expertise will help maximise storage operational efficiency and
return on investment through our knowledge and experience of the process and
operational requirements.
Our ServiceOur process, compression and electrical consulting teams
ensure that the engineered solutions maximise storage
availability and turnaround. Once sanctioned we are
comfortable with engineering and owners engineer scopes,
incorporating (where appropriate) procurement
management, construction management and utility
connection arrangements.

GASSI TOUIL GAS DEVELOPMENT & LNG PLANT
Energy and Power completed a two-part feasibility and concept engineering Project to review and refine the design for the Gassi Touil gas
facility in Algeria and associated LNG terminal at the coast. The work involved evaluation of the gas field, development of processing options,
option selection and full CAPEX OPEX and execution plan development for the selected option.
The Gassi Touil fields reserves were estimated at 4.8Tcf (trillion cubic feet) wet gas-yielding 4.4Tcf dry gas, 76 million barrels of liquefied
petroleum gas (LPG), and 73 million barrels of condensate. The concept developed was for two production centres to maintain a plateau for
feed gas to the LNG plant for its economic life. Pipeline gas, stabilised condensate and mixed LPG will be exported into transmission lines local
to the facilities. The gas export rate will be equivalent to the LNG off-take from Arzew.
The LNG development at Arzew is a new LNG plant next to the existing Bethioua LNG plants, export will be via an export route to an existing
pier in the Bethioua port that will be modified for LNG loading. It will produce 4 million tonnes per annum of LNG (180 trillion BTU) and
approximately 190 barrels/day condensate, 1400 barrels/day butane and 7300 barrels/day propane.
This work addressed the technical feasibility addressed the overall project, the CAPEX summaries for each project, the overall execution plan
considerations together with a summary of the projects with a risk review and status check against the Energy and Power feasibility tollgate.
The work undertaken included development of screening estimates, development schedules Basis of Design, Site Visit at Gassi Touil and
Arzew, Cost Estimates, Technical Reviews, HSE studies and Risk Reviews. Full descriptions of the upstream and LNG processes were provided
and outline execution plans.
