▲ Energica provides insights and advice to our client in IT Sourcing, Sourcing Management & Supplier

Governance arena through its Managed Governance Services from India. Also we assist our clients in Service Delivery Automation Engagement in the areas of Man-Machine Interaction including Robotic Process Automation (RPA) & Cognitive Automation(IA) initiative(s).

▲Robotic process automation (RPA) is a software “robot” to perform routine business processes by mimicking the way that people (human) interact with applications.

▲This presentation on Man-Machine Interaction from our team is to share our point of view with our past experience and current capabilities on RPA and Cognitive Automation arena.

▲This will allow our team to not only provide useful information to our client, but allow our client to get prepared well and set the stage for IT, RPA & Cognitive Automation Initiatives and lead our client to sustain in the cognitive automation journey without having any hassles going forward.

▲Where real time examples/case studies are included for a better understanding, results achieved do not

guarantee similar outcomes for other clients. However Approach and Methodology* will be refined based on

the client’ actual scope and requirements going forward.

▲Please contact Ramesh Somasundaram (Energica) with any additional questions or clarifications.

▲Robotic Process Automation (RPA) ▲Robotic process automation (RPA) is the application of technology that allows a software ‘robot’ to capture

and interpret with existing applications for processing a transaction, manipulating data, triggering responses and communicating with other applications or digital systems.

▲RPA is a software robot capable of doing repeatable and predictable interactions in a methodical way triggered by rule based transactions interact with multiple IT applications.

▲Creating improved interfaces to help machines and humans work together to complete tasks. RPA is a

Software which knits together processes from start to end ▲ Ex: Auto Insurance Comparative Rater /or/ identifying fraudulent claims in Insurance Industry

▲Usage of robotics and artificial intelligence tools across many domains, from healthcare to insurance to manufacturing processes is keep increasing

▲ Identifying opportunistic areas for automation (process improvements, continual improvements, cognitive automation, dealing with both structured and unstructured data), ease of doing and effective decision management.

▲RPA solutions generally have lower implementation cost, require shorter implementation time, and carry lower risk than large IT transformations. However, it is important to find the right processes and apply RPA solution judiciously.

▲Cognitive Automation - CA ▲Robotic process automation (RPA) has great potential for automating routine tasks that are methodical,

repetitive and rules-based. By contrast, non-routine tasks those involving intuition, judgment, creativity, or problem solving would appear to be very difficult to automate.

▲ Ex: Risk Analysis & Modeling, Patient Prescription analysis – Expert Recommendations. These kind of problem requires a special treatment with a combination of RPA and cognitive data science due to the complexity of the data.

▲A new breed of cognitive technologies with a breed of analytical with human-like capabilities, such as

recognizing handwriting, voice, identifying images, using natural language processing etc... leads to cognitive solutions using AI techniques.

▲When we combined the robotic process automation with powerful analytics, with these cognitive technologies can form “AI” solutions that can either directly assist people in the performance of nonroutine tasks or even automate those tasks entirely.

▲Application should be targeted to deliver meaningful, insightful outputs ▲ Ex: Global banks are leveraging AI solutions to improve the regulatory compliance processes by

monitoring all electronic communications of employees or customer service support for indicators of noncompliant activities.

▲Usage of robotics and artificial intelligence tools across many domains from healthcare to insurance to manufacturing processes is keep increasing

▲Cognitive solutions are generally have higher implementation cost and require longer implementation time due

to the iterative nature of solutioning process.

▲Energica’ has portrayed various real time examples in the following slides (#13 - #18).

Advanced and Complex Automation like RPA,

Cognitive Intelligence will increase the

efficiency of the workforce Increased dependency

on the human operator involved

(skills, competence & explicit knowledge).

3. Diminishing | BPO Services

Business | Technology | Process |

Service Delivery Transformation

1. RPA will Replace our Jobs

(Onshore | Offshore | Near shore)

2. SIXTH SENSE

Robots Think like Humans

Think-Act-Do

4. Significance of IT will be reduced

IT is still a critical enabler

Lead to Workforce Augmentation rather than

Human replacement resulting High Employee

Morale & Service Innovation. However the

workface have to upgrade their skills,

Competence & Knowledge to sustain

Humans operators cannot be replaced by RPA

& Other Cognitive Solutions simply because

of human reasoning.

RPA can mimic human behaviors but

Still require training from humans and cannot

fully replicate human interface primarily due to

dependence on final decision management

Change Inertia | Developing a flexible and agile

approach that adapts to

the needs of a dynamic solutioning involves

RPA & Cognitive Tools for effective

Business transformation with a combination of

Digital Technology & KPO

Software Robots are not really robots.

It’s a software Interacting with multiple

applications in a non-invasive manner, they

execute rules-based and

repetitive transactional processes

efficiently, accurately and at scale

IT owns the responsibility for systems

infrastructure, security, resilience/recovery,

and governance and

Dependency Constraint on IT will stay AS-IS.

IT should be involved on all RPA and

CA initiatives. For some reason, if an automated

process experiences any problems, the users’

is still likely to call IT for remedies.

Dependency Constraint on IT will stay AS-IS.

5. Robots are NOT Error Prone

Robots have no common-sense

Machines can make mistakes,

especially in scenarios characterized by

uncertainty and ambiguity*. *MIT

As such, proper calibration of trust towards

machines is a prerequisite of good

human-machine team performance.

Lack of trust is often cited as one of the critical

barriers to more widespread use of AI and

autonomous systems.* However the momentum

on RPA and Cognitive automation transformation

initiatives will have a upward swing in the coming

days/years.
