In January 2012 Rainold Petersen owner of The Local Grill in Hurlingham changed the name to Chaplin's Grill in tribute to his legendary

Melville-based bistro - a gem amidst the fine dining establishments of Joburg in the 80' & 90's. At Chaplin's Grill Rainold revives, within a

contemporary dining context, his passion for delivering a superior product and exemplary service with a trademark hands-on approach.

The menu platforms a simple yet innovative take on the traditiona l urban grill where elements of international flavour distinguish.

Specialities include calamari salad in a mustard-dill-garlic vinaigrette, mozzarella balls wrapped in baby marrow grilled and drizzled with

balsamic, pork belly in port jus with the inclusion of memorable classics like roasted rack of lamb and prawn curry.

It is in the offerings of the skilful grill that the restaurant has gained its loyal following. Grain feed Chalmar and Greenf ields free range

beef is aged and cut to order, a concept reminiscent of the days gone by visit to 'your butcher' where personalised service was always a

pleasure and knowing your customer's preferences a privilege. The selection culminates in the 'beef sampler' - a strapping 600gram trio

of prime beef cuts for the die-hard carnivore. Casual faire includes 180gram beef burgers, ribs, pregos and wraps, and dishes such as

the brinjal mille feuille - a tower of deep-fried brinjal, robiola cheese, olive tapenade and sundried tomatoes - ensure vegetarians are well

catered for. Providing a host of complimentary pairings, the restaurant showcases a singular selection of wines from a diverse and

comprehensive collection of boutique estates.

In its favourable location off the William Nicol artery, with panoramic views of the Sandton CBD and a large covered deck where Charlie

Chaplin movies play out, Chaplin's Grill presents a welcoming, unpretentious atmosphere accommodating the business lunch as r eadily

the workshop to take home.

Our Beverage Technologist, International Beer judge and of German origin – will give you an inside of the history of German beers, explain the different

beer styles and explain to you the principals of how to taste beer.

You will taste beers from different German regions:

- Weissbier from Bavaria

- Altbier from Duesseldorf

- Pilsner from the high North

- Bockbier from the beautiful South

Beers are either imported or sourced from South African micro brewers who brew meticulously according to the ‘Deutsches Reinheitsgebot’ (German

purity law).

Always wanted to brew your own beer? Learn the craft from the experts. We offer you an unforgettable experience of brewing in the traditional

style.

We will come with our 50 litre brewery to your office, your conference or your private home - or use the facilities at The Brewery @ Linbro Park.

You choose the style of beer - from an English Ale, a German Bock, a Guinness style Stout or many other choices.

During the Beer Brewing Experience you will get hands-on involved in all brewing steps, taste the natural ingredients, learn about the process,

sample amazing beers and - most importantly - have lots of fun.

As a reward for your hard work we will deliver the fruits of you labour in convenient bottles 3 weeks after the brewing - with your personal label.
