Description: This workshop offers a new approach to Mixed-Media through the many and unique possibilities of the encaustic medium, ink, paper, fabrics, and found materials. We will discuss patterns, expressive personal marks, textured surfaces, the use of letters, numbers and multi-layered pieces used and in combination with encaustic painting techniques. Most importantly we will look at discuss and apply the graphical storytelling or painterly narrative process by using photos, photocopies of books, newsprint, words, numbers and or any imagery as inspiration
The Encaustic Collage Workshop uses beeswax as an adhesive—a fast, reversible alternative to working with glue—as well as a luminous painting medium. This mixed media (collage) workshop combines historical background, instruction for fusing, layering, texture, transfers and time to experiment.
