Fresh Deli Seeing Opportunity: A small business selling local, organic food in the Quad Cities community needed help forming a low-cost solution to market their organization.

Taking Action: SAU Enactus formed an unpaid internship working with the St. Ambrose University Career Center.

Enabling Progress: Consulting with the ownership has increased engagement with 20 social media updates per month, more than double that for all of last summer.

Sustainable Parks Seeing Opportunity: A local City Parks District without an existing recycling program needed a solution to implement a program fitting the budget and educating park users.

Taking Action: Lobbied for a small grant to purchase ten recycling bins and strategically place throughout the various parks in Bettendorf.

Enabling Progress: Collected 266 recyclable bottles/cans from 5 parks in just one month of use. Developing scaled up plan for future bins and to present a recycling plan to other nearby Parks Districts.

Design to Learn Seeing Opportunity: An area Special Education Center for children with severe ADHD and Autism needed assistance creating a more welcoming environment to their special needs students.

Taking Action: Received a donation for renovation supplies from a local Sherwin-Williams and refurbished 2 cool-down rooms to help students focus and control their emotions.

Enabling Progress: Received positive feedback from school’s principal of the rooms having an encouraging effect on students; we hope to scale this up by presenting a similar plan to other area institutions.

Sustainable Mississippi Seeing Opportunity: Observing a local environmentally protected area that needed new ways to reach out in the community and create awareness and collaboration on their goals of sustainability.

Taking Action: Working with the local Nahant Marsh to survey other local environmental groups to increase public awareness in the area and develop partnerships on ways to make the Mississippi River more sustainable.

Enabling Progress: Gathering 30 surveys and developing a catalog to publish online for local groups to use in planning.
