Distribution-Grip Dead-end

Description

PLP helical fi ttings are used across the rail network to terminate and protect conduc-tors used in Overhead Line Electrifi cation (OLE).

Conductor Dead-Ends and Distribution

The PREFORMED™ Grips and Dead-ends are used for terminating conductors used in OLE construction. The Grips and Dead-Ends are made from compatible materials for the aluminium or copper based conductors upon which they will be used. Lay direction must be the same as that of the outer stranding of the conductor to which it is applied.

Line Guards and Patch Rods

PLP Line Guards are intended to protect conductors/strands against bending, com-pression, abrasion and arc over damage and to provide restorative repair. The de-gree of protection needed on a specifi c line depends upon a number of factors such as, line design, temperature, tension, exposure to wind fl ow and vibration history on similar construction in the same area.

Patch Rods are designed to restore full conductivity and mechanical strength to conductors/strands where damage does not exceed 25% of the outer strand layer.
