Our partnership in Washtenaw COFU focuses on meeting the needs of our community’s most vulnerable in four priority areas through three funding components intended to: support human services, build nonprofit capacity; and foster commu-nity collaboration & systems-level change.

United Way has played a critical role in the success of many new programs Eastern Michigan University has launched in Ypsilanti. United Way provided the seed money for the Family Empowerment Program, which helps families in Ypsilanti Housing Commission communities make strides toward self-sufficiency in employment, education, and health. United Way also supports local organizations that provide critical services to EMU students and staff. These include the Collaborative: YMCA Early Childhood Development Center, which provides low-cost high quality childcare for EMU students with children; Corner Health Center, which provides full spectrum healthcare for young people up to age 25 and their children; and Ozone House, which provides safety and security for homeless youth and those aging out of foster care.

In our community, United Way is the key partner that provides the early strategic investment that makes a difference every day. When you give to United Way, you know your gift will make a difference to our EMU, Ypsilanti and Washtenaw County communities.
