The following outline clarifies the system architecture and port configuration using an example of an EMS System where the EMS service is inserted in the DMZ (demilitarised zone) of the customer firewall.

EMS Communication infrastructure
The communication between EMS Client(s) and Server will always occur via the customer’s intranet. Whereas, the customer network as well as public IP networks (Internet) are used for communicating with the video systems (CamTel or CamDisc). A fixed IP address must be provided for each system component (for each EMS Client and for the EMS Server). Dynamic IP addresses are not suitable for security-relevant systems.
It must also be ensured that the TCP/IP ports used by the EMS are not already being used by other applications in the customer network.
The customer network firewall must also be configured appropriately, in order not to block the incoming video and alarm connections from the public network.
Note: Further ports are necessary if utilizing other network services such as client e-mail sending or using the TAPI function of EMS. For this purpose please note the corresponding basic conditions for the respective service.

EMS SERVER
“CamControl SERVER Module”CamControl SERVER is the interface between EMS and the HeiTel VideoGateways. The server establishes all connections to the outside world and generates the video receiver archives. The CamControl SERVER is connected to the EMS database via the CamControl SERVER Receiver.
It also has a user interface among other things for configuring connection types and the video receiver archives.
The HTconnect server for the HTconnect connections is launched as part of the CamControl SERVER.
Contents
EMS SERVER
“Backup Module”The Backup Module runs data backups for the EMS database.
In the event of data loss, the database can be restored at any time from the backup files.
The Backup Module offers comprehensive configuration options for various data loss scenarios.
Contents
EMS SERVER
“Tours Module”The Tours Module runs tours stored in the EMS database at the correct time and reports any failed tours.
“Ping Module”The Ping Module runs ICMP “echo requests” stored in the EMS database at the correct interval and reports any failed requests.
Contents
EMS SERVER
“Timing Module”The Timing Module monitors the time- controlled functions of the EMS SERVER such as a routine transmitter call or the enabling/disabling of the transmitter at the correct time and reports any outstanding messages to the transmitter.
“HTconnect Monitor”The HTconnect Monitor provides an overview of the current HTconnect connections and the monitored connections.Within this overview, it is possible to query the current HTconnect status of a certain transmitter using its serial number.
