EMRC (Educational Multimedia Centre)

• EMRC is the eighteenth media centre• It is established by the university grand
commission (UGC) at Bhuvaneswar• The media centre is fully founded by the
university grants commission and supervised by EMRC
AimTo disseminate education through
technology of satellite television, internet and webcasting to the students in the remotest parts of the country.
Primary mandate of EMRC• To produce educational documentaries on
all subjects to compliment and supplement the regular under graduate curriculum
• To record syllabus orients vided lectures of selected UG subjects form the approved model curriculum of UGC
• To develop e-content programmes for web based education and for the upcoming virtual university and National Knowledge Network
• The extension activities of EMRC include organising regular workshop and seminars to train the interested faculty of all the universities in the state in T.V. presentation skills, development of television and e-content scripts etc.
• Short term vocational courses for the weaker sections of society have started from this academic year in Digital photography, videography, journalism and mass communication.
• Equipped with a multicam stuido, state-of-the-art production equipment and multimedia work stations, the centre conducts hardware and software research and produces a variety of products: educational video documentaries, e-content and video lectures on undergraduate subjects of study.
Objectives • To produce high quality audio visual
programmes and developing mutlimedia content.
• The centre also engages in conducting research on media technologies and education – related topics
• Training of necessary human resources.• Promotion of visual media cultures in the
university system.• Production and development of videos and
rich audio content for the higher education sectors.
• Provide intensive programmes to PG students of mass communication from across the state of Odisha.
