Working knowledgeof the Cooperative’s transmis-sion and distribution system andof electrical line equipment to bemaintained. Knowledge of linework – how lines feed, how toback feed lines, etc. Must knowthe overall service area of thecooperative well. Must knowRUS specifications and NESCcodes concerning power lines.Has current knowledge of irriga-tion, industrial and commercialload requirements. Understandconstruction drawings, systemmaps, manuals, and stakingsheets. Knowledge of Cooperat-ive’s tariff, policies, rules, pro-cedures and practices. Must beable to understand and use elec-tronic spreadsheets, word pro-cessing and otherprograms/equipment, includingcomputer programs, provided bythe employer now or in the fu-ture.
Abilities and Skills: Above aver-age problem solving andtroubleshooting abilities neces-sary to locate line trouble and re-commend to members the bestpossible electric service. Experi-ence in performing related workfrom bucket trucks and from thetops of poles. UnderstandNESC, NEC, and has the abilityto construct Cooperative’s distri-bution system to meet thesecodes. Must be able to make im-mediate decisions in situationsthat are dangerous to a cowork-er or the public anytime a prob-lem arises. The ability to com-municate effectively with cooper-ative members, employees, andvendors. Should be able to pro-mote continuous good memberand public relations. On call 24hours a day – helps answerphones in emergency situations.Has and maintains a driver’s li-cense with a good driving re-cord and be insurable under thestandard rate of the current carri-er. Depth/distance visual abilityand eye-hand coordination ne-cessary. Must pass a physicalexam initially, and drug/con-trolled substance screening testsrandomly.
