Vulcan is a progressive town of approximately 2000 people. The Town is a service centre for the County of Vulcan, located just southeast of Calgary and extends south to the County of Lethbridge. It covers an approximate area of 545,000 hectares and encompasses the Town of Vulcan, 5 villages and 8 hamlets. The population of the County (including the Town and Villages) is approximately 6,900 people. The Town is currently receiving applications for a Development/Economic and Development Officer. Under the supervision of the Chief Administrative Officer, Development/Economic and Development Officer plans, directs and controls the Development activities/programs for the Town of Vulcan. The successful candidate will: Possess a post-secondary education in Community Development or related discipline Possess three years of experience in related fields Possess excellent oral and written Communication Skill Be flexible for some week-ends works/Functions Be familiar with “Word” and other common software Possess valid Alberta Driver license Other requirements: Experience or understanding of Municipal Government operation would be an asset Capable to work under minimal supervision Excellent organizational and time management skills; Membership in ADOA & EDOA or acquire it; Ability to collaborate with partners in achieving successes; Ability to deal effectively with all forms of media. (Exceptional Personal skills would compensate for lack of training and experience) Details of this position’s responsibilities can be obtained by contacting the Town office.
