CommuteInfo worked directly with OPM staff to coordinate a full implementation of rideshare options for OPM employees and other employers located at Iron Mountain.

OPM supported the effort by:

o Dedicating staff to administer the commuterbenefits program and assist commuters on-site

o Providing monthly commuter choicevouchers for employees to help cover thecosts of transit and vanpooling

o Providing priority parking set aside forvanpool and carpool vehicles

Background The Boyers location of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management is located within the Iron Mountain facility, in Butler County. This underground storage facility houses a variety of companies, agencies and private enterprises. Collectively, Iron Mountain is the largest employer site in Butler County, Pennsylvania. The remote location of the job site, coupled with parking limitations, spurred OPM to seek out implementing ride share alternatives. CommuteInfo has been providing assistance to OPM since 2008.

Outcomes

At the start of 2016, 229 employees participate in 18 volunteer vanpool groups registered with CommuteInfo traveling to Iron Mountain.

Collectively these groups are keeping an estimated 422 vehicle trips off the roadways each day.

With an average commute distance of 54 miles

round-trip and using the current rate for federal

mileage reimbursement; this means an average

savings of over $7,610 per person per year by

sharing their ride. For a combined savings for

all participants of $1,742,864 per year.
