Employees have the right to a safe workplace free of known dangers to
themselves and their co-workers. The Occupational Safety and Health
Administration (OSHA) is the government agency in charge of setting standards,
providing information and training to employees and employers, and generally
making sure that America's workforce stays healthy and safe.
The Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Act of 1970 created the
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) within the Department of
Labor with the mission to reduce workplace hazards and create a system of health
and safety regulations and programs.
