TAKEN TO TRIAL

After Emmett Till’s death his Mother and Uncle took his murderers, Carolyn Bryant and Roy Bryant to trial. They faced a white Judge and Jury so charges fell through and the murderers were free but a big event took place in the court. That day Emmett’s Uncle Moses Wright stood up in court and pointed out Emmett’s murderers.

OPEN CASKET

After Emmett’s death, his Mom had an open casket funeral and invited news reporters and magazine writers. She wanted everyone to see what they have done to her poor son and that racism needed to be changed. Emmett was a young boy who didn’t deserve to die the way he did.

HOW DID THIS IMPACT EVERYONE ELSE?

Seeing the young boy die so brutally was an eye-opener for many different people. Also watching an African-American stand up in court and point out two white murderers gave others strength to stand up for themselves. Some whites even stood up for the rights of African-Americans after watching this tragic event occur.

This is a video of the PBS show about Emmett Till. This explains his life before and the effects after his kidnapping and murder. This might be interesting to view once you get some free time.

This is a video of the Fix to Fail Murder Trial Part 2 of 2. It wouldn't let me view the first part because of some terms and conditions flaws or something like that. This seems just as interesting as the PBS video. I would probably view this when you have some free time as well.
