In the race to attract customers by pro-viding more mobile services and greater

data transfer, wireless carriers mustquickly embrace and deploy ever-moresensitive networking technology at theircell sites. As the industry moves steadilytoward LTE (Long Term Evolution) andother 4th generation mobile broadbandstandards, both carriers and OEMs arelooking for the fastest ways to get thisequipment up and running, and keep it atpeak performance to maintain customersatisfaction and protect their revenuestreams.

Emerson’s NetXtend™ Cell Site Series of

integrated enclosures provides customcell site deployment solutions for elec-tronic equipment by utilizing common

structures and components. This uniqueseries of cabinets offers multiple, field-

configurable chambers and temperaturecontrolled environmental zones withina single enclosure to provide the idealenvironment for each piece of equip-ment. Battery backup assures continuedoperation when commercial power isinterrupted.

By eliminating the need for permittingand construction of shelters, field-configurable NetXtend™ Cell Site Seriesenclosures reduce deployment cycles andalso provide flexibility for the inevitableconfiguration changes that next-gen-

    eration mobile broadband technologydemands.

    Roof Panel

The roof panel is removable to provide

access to internals for cabling and

maintenance. The panel is alarmed to

    prevent unknowingly leaving the panel

open after ser vicing the equipment. An

audible alarm alerts the technician on

the site, and the alarm is also communi-cated to the NOC (Network Operations

Center), should the technician leave the

    site without securing the panel.

    Walls, Panels & Doors

Modular panels and doors are combined

    to create divided chambers within

    the enclosure that provide different

thermal zones to satisfy OEM equip-

    ment environmental needs. After initial

    deployment, as technology evolves and

equipment changes, chambers can beexpanded or decreased in the field by

    moving partitions, rather than requiring

    complete enclosure replacement.

Doors with gaskets are designed to

hinge from either side and can be

changed from one side to the other in

the field to accommodate the space

    requirements of the installation.

Exterior panels are aluminum. The inner

    frame--the main struc tural component-

-is steel. All surfaces are protected with

    our patented multistage powder fin-

ishing process to meet EPA standards.

    The finish meets GR-487 requirements,

    including salt fog.

    Racks and Accessories

NetXtend™ Cell Site enclosures are built

    with 23" equipment racks. 23" to 19"

adapters are available to support dif-

ferent OEM equipment such as RxAIT

    (Receive Antenna Interface Tray) equip-

ment, distributed BTS systems, and other

    RF and power distribution components.

    Mounting

NetXtend™ Cell Site Series enclosures are

designed for pad or grate mounting. An

optional mounting plinth is available with

six bolt locations. Installation of bolts in

all six positions meets requirements for

    Zone 4 seismic applications.

    Enclosure Flexibility

NetXtend™ Cell Site Series enclosures enable you to quickly and economically create

the ideal operating environment for each sensitive electronic component — without

designing and fabricating a unique enclosure for every site and every application.

Plus, once an enclosure is deployed, it can be reconfigured in the field to accommo-

date new equipment and new requirements.

    Climate Control Solutions

Whatever climate or heat dissipation requirements may arise, there is a cli-

mate control solution available to keep your equipment operating within its

optimum temperature range. Options include a variety of environmentally

friendly solutions such as positive-pressure forced air cooling, Freon-free

thermoelectric coolers, heat exchangers, fan cooling, convection cooling and

combinations of the above to meet more dynamic requirements.

The integrated Environmental Control Unit (ECU) monitors conditions in

each chamber and provides power controls and alarms to/from the appli-

cable thermal components. Climate control systems are integrated into

the door or panels at the factory and are field configurable by adjusting the

software in the ECU to accommodate changes in thermal requirements of

    contained equipment.

    Battery Choices

Battery backup assures continued operation during loss of commercial

power, keeping your cell site up and running and keeping your revenue

stream flowing. NetXtend™ Cell Site Series enclosures are available with -48V

and +24V battery shelf options. Cabinets can hold up to 20 batteries by com-

bining chambers, while still meeting Seismic Zone 4 requirements. Battery

shelf compartments are isolated from electronics compartments to allow for

optimum thermal zones for each type of equipment in the cabinet.

NetXtend™ Cell Site Series enclosures uti-

    lize Emerson Network Power’s NetSure®

    DC power technology platform to

ensure the reliability of every active OSP

    enclosure. Emerson Network Power has

been an industry leader in power solu-

tions since 1909, with real-world, global

knowledge of all types of telecom DC

    power needs.

    Compact, modular, NetSure® DC power

systems provide more space for revenue-

    generating equipment in the enclosure

and can be configured for 19" or 23" rack

    mounting. They deliver constant power

to meet load or recharge demand, and

    comply with global standards.

    AC Distribution / ATS

    DC Power Integration

Units are available to provide -48V and

+24V power. They operate on 120 or

    220V single-phase AC power, 50 or 60

    Hz, to accommodate global differences.

Remote access options allow users to

view, control and interact with installa-

    tions where suitable communication links

    are available.

To assure reliable transfer of business-critical loads to emergency sources

and provide over-current protection and surge protection, an Automatic

Transfer Switch (ATS) can be mounted directly on the enclosure or separately

mounted on an H frame or other arrangement at the cell site.

    Emerson’s ASCO® 7000 Series switches combine best-in-class technology

from world-class manufacturers with a comprehensive offering of options

and capabilities. Key features include commercial and generator power

    breakers, a 42-position Square D load center, customer-specified TVSS

(Transient Voltage Surge Suppression) and a generator receptacle or cam-lokassembly for engine-generator connections.

If cabinet mounting is specified, the ATS is mounted on the cabinet at the

factory. ASCO® ATS units are UL 1008 certified and meet NFPA and NEC

requirements for emergency and standby power systems.
