Where transportation goes for innovation

Fabricated Manifolds

Tenneco’s fabricated manifolds provide our customers with the

latest manifold options, resulting in improved fuel economy,

reduced emissions and better engine horsepower and torque.

The manifold collects the exhaust gases

from the engine’s multiple cylinders and

distributes them through the vehicle’s

exhaust system. The interactions

between the different cylinders and

the pressure pattern in the channels

influence the gas exchange process in

the cylinders and the sound.

Fabricated manifolds and manifold-

converters are lighter than traditional

cast manifolds, therefore providing

significant advantages. An increasing

number of automobile manufacturers

are chosing to replace cast manifolds

with fabricated manifolds.

Tenneco’s manifolds can be broken

down into three main categories – shell

manifolds, tubular manifolds and

double-wall air gap insulated manifolds,

as well as combinations of these types.

•  The Shell manifold’s compact design and reduced weight make it a cost-effective alternative to cast manifolds.

TUBULAR MANIFOLD

•  Like the Shell manifold, reduced weight and cost are among the Tubular manifold’s selling points. Additionally, the adapted runner length of each pipe allows the torque to be optimized for driving pleasure. Weight and cost reduction and the possibility of performing customer-specific sound tuning are further advantages of this design.

DOUBLE-WALL AIR GAP INSULATED MANIFOLD

•  This manifold features gas-conducting interior parts and supporting exterior shells. Enhanced thermal behavior (faster catalyst light-off and less soaking behavior) and an improved durability as well as weight reduction are the advantages of this product in comparison to cast manifolds.
