Contributing to successIn our business concept we state we shall contribute to ourcustomers’ success. As a provider of energy solutions fortelecom, how do you accomplish that? Several necessaryfactors are obvious; reliable products and systems, competitiveprizing and fulfilling commitments on time. The most importantfactor, however, is probably understanding the customersoperation. Based on that understanding we as a supplier canuse our expertise in the field of energy systems for developingand suggesting optimal solutions. We can take the step frombeing an equipment supplier to being a partner in developingour customers systems and operations.– We can be a contributor to success.
There is a trend in telecom whereoperators and system suppliers alikeconcentrate on their respective coreactivities, relying on partners andsuppliers for other non-core areas. Inresponse to this trend our offering inthe areas of services and operation hasbeen substantially expanded.
The product portfolio described inthe following pages is designed to meetthe needs in this changing market-place. It covers the entire scale from
There is no substitutefor experienceWith systems in operation in morethan 100 countries, and supportingtelecom equipment from all majormanufacturers, our experience coversall aspects of telecom energy.
More than 100 years of experience inthe field does not hurt either, but it isthe ability today that counts.
Our designers and applicationengineers work continuously togetherwith operators and system suppliers todevelop optimal energy solutions fortoday and tomorrow. When doing so,they are backed by the joint experienceof the most global, and one of thelargest organizations in the field oftelecom energy.

Energy managementSupervision and control of all sorts of energy equipment can be centralizedfor a large number of sites with the assistance of Emerson EnergyMaster(EEM). This computerized supervision and control system for energyequipment provides detailed information, which offers great cost savingsin maintenance and improved system reliability.
18
EEMEmerson EnergyMaster™ (EEM) can be used to supervise, controland maintain all sorts of energy equipment in a telecommuni-cations network. This computerized supervision and controlsystem provides detailed information to reduce maintenance costsand improve system reliability. With operating and maintenancecosts for energy equipment representing one of the biggest singleoperating expenses in a network, it pays to control and monitoryour energy systems.
Emerson EnergyMaster™
Network solutionEEM supervises and controls a networkof sites with energy equipment. Themain computer collects data auto-matically from each site and stores theinformation in a database for efficienthandling of all energy equipment inthe network.
Due to the scalability of the system, the network can easily be expanded.
Complete site solutionToday, most power equipment suppli-ers offer some kind of system forremote supervision, but few have theconnectivity for older-generationpower equipment.
EEM enables costsavings and improvedsystem reliability”
EEM, in contrast, is a completesolution for all energy-relatedequipment. When equipped with theEnergyMaster Site Manager, manytypes of energy equipment lackingbuilt-in intelligence, such as batteries, older types of power plants and stand-by generators, can be included in themanagement system.
Integrated solutionSince most Emerson energy systemproducts are prepared for connection toEEM, on-site installation costs arereduced to a minimum.

19
EEMToday, there are a large number ofenergy management systems withdifferent interfaces, protocols andfunctions. The implementation andoperation of some energy managementsystems can be costly, due to the use ofnon-standard software and interfaces.
Management systems today have tomeet the following basic requirements:• An open system supporting
industry-standard protocols• A modular system offering indepen-
dent functionality that can beexpanded in a flexible way, allowingfunctional growth in line withcustomer needs
• A scalable system allowing acustomer to start with a smallconfiguration whose capacity can begradually increased when needed
• An integrated system for cost-effective installation
EnergyMaster Site Manager meets allof the above requirements.
EEM utilizes two types of softwarefor the main computer: Energy Mana-gement Application Software (EMAS),and EnergyMaster Exchange Manager(EXMG). The equipment required atthe site is called EnergyMaster SiteManager (ESM), and consists of afamily of products for site supervision.
EMAS
The UNIX™-based software EMASmeets all requirements for flexibility ina management system today. Energymanagement systems must be capableof handling a large number of energysystems that are both computerizedand non-computerized. EMAS has theflexibility to manage this.
EXMG
The Windows®-based software EXMGis used to supervise and monitorenergy-related equipment. The systemis designed for both local and remoteoperation. EXMG allows the operatorto perform practically all operablefunctions directly on the equipment, without having to visit the site whereit is installed.
ESM
ESM is a family of products developedfor site equipment. The product port-folio consists of supervision modules(SMs) that enable a flexible andscalable system designed to fit eachunique site.
EEM is a completesolution for energymanagement“

Product contentsInverter systems can consist of variousinverters, cabinets, static bypassswitch, service bypass and accessoriesto be configured to a specific load orapplication. Systems are typically ratedat 5 and 12.5 kVA.
ApplicationsThe existence and widespread use ofreliable DC power plants, typicallyproviding 24, 48 or 60 volt DCoutput with battery reserve, make itadvantageous to use DC voltage as theenergy source for all loads byconverting it to all other requiredvoltages. Inverters are the preferredchoice for reliable AC powering ofcritical loads, as well as for AC backuppower, when the load demands a longbattery reserve time (two hours ormore), which is normal in publictelecom networks.
“
”Features• AC loads receive reliable, conditio-
ned power with the same batteryreserve time as telecom DC loads
• The inverters generate sinusoidaloutput voltages and are compatiblewith all loads intended and certifiedfor an AC mains supply
• Existing investments in telecomDC power plants are utilized
