Emerging Water Issues in Indigenous Communities: Northern Ontario (Provincial Focus) At this point you have been given a basic debrief of the situation posed to residents of Attawapiskat and their emerging water issues. Many people are of the belief that the socio economic problems existing on this reserve cannot be fixed without fixing infrastructural issues in their community. You are to gather as much information needed in order to devise a sustainable solution for their infrastructure issues. This will be posed to the Canadian government and the Indigenous governing band council. This solution must take into consideration all infrastructure issues including social problems, formation of an economy and a working sustainable society (You are essentially building a community from scratch in the Attawapiskat location with an Indigenous population of 1000 people). Be sure to think and incorporate all of the questions/angles that will be posed to you in order to defend your sustainable solution. You must be able to be critical of your own potential solution for loopholes and address how you may close those gaps to make the solution work. You must provide a detailed, step by step plan (written + presentation component) that is possible, plausible and realistic and can be put into motion as a TRUE SUSTAINABLE SOLUTION within the next few years. All Sources must be cited in MLA format + submitted with your final assignment Hint: A good starting point is to research success stories of other Indigenous communities that have already addressed this issue and have been thriving.
