• Teaches important players the proper mobilization & demobilization of a POD
• Provides a hands-on experience with developing emergency plans
• Assists in identifying gaps in training/drill scenarios

BH Camp fire Response
• Deployed for the first time in California history for a large scale disaster
• Responded specifically to aid the entire Paradise Police Dept
• Deployed during Thanksgiving and rotated teams until Christmas
Kern County BH capabilities
• Over 900 employees ranging in various mental health certification
• 100 employees are certified in CISM
• CISM team has specific training in handling first responder mental health post significant event
• Substance abuse counselors for alcohol and drugs
• MET team members are capable of doing virtual evaluations
Future BH ideas for EMS
• BH is looking to create a standard CISM strike team response to allow for quicker deployments
• Development of specific EMS policy that will make the Kern County BH CISM team available for all local first responders
• Including BH in all EMS related Drills and exercises as well as developing an exercise for the BH administration for a large scale event
Mental Health Symposium
• TBD for a September 2019
• Special guest speakers for PTSD and psychological first aid
• 4 hr CE course for all levels of pre-hospital
• Will be available for multiple agencies

Control Charts
• Statistical tool to determine if a process is under control (i.e is stable, with variations only being attributed to sources common to the process)
• 3 parts• Data specific to each system
• Average of historical data
• Upper and Lower Control Limits: indicate threshold at which process is considered statistically “unlikely” (usually +/- 3 standard deviations of the average)
