Hello once again, to you my favorite readers in the world. So, the weather has cooled down some, great for sleeping

with a window open. I hear the fishing has been really goodtoo. Lots of events coming up with Halloween right around the corner.

Now is a good time to make that deal for advertising through the Holidays. I have acurrent special so good that you need to call me to hear it. You wouldnt want me to em-

barrass the competitors rates, would you? Just give me a call and I have a deal for youthat only a fool with a business would pass up.

For those of you who have followed along with me over the years. You know that I canpick some touchy subjects for around these parts, but I feel a need to stimulate yourminds. It does get tough some times to figure out what to write about for there is so muchto talk about.

From all of the past and most recent scandals within our government, there is probablynothing I can say or write about that you may already heard of. But I am totally baffled

by the lack of ethics for our laws. The ones not re-written to hide an Obamacare fee.Let me ask you this. Do you really honestly think that this Muslim brotherhood mem-

ber has our best wishes for us as Americans? This president has foregone any memory ofbeing proud to be an American. Maybe it was the way I was raised, I played Baseball,(not much for Hot-Dogs), but Burgers and home made apple pie.was awesome to meas a child. But now Ive grown up and seen many horrible things, especially through thehelp of social media like facebook. I feel Ive seen it all. And you know what? There will

be more posted tomorrow, everyday until you die.As a nation once noted for its glory and fame, we have now been dooped, by a system

of a problematic nature with no end in sight.Someone explain to me why we still havent closed our borders? We have numerous

cases of Ebola and the other virus spreading like wild-fire. Why? Did we think that aperson who has been around these infectious diseases would be honest when coming intoour country? Of course not! Why do we bring incurable diseases into America at all? Wehave the resources to out-source this epidemic. Lets help fight the disease outside ofour country, why? To eliminate any possibility of anyone carrying this disease of settingfoot on our soil. Sounds good to me.

But, oh wait, that has already been taking place all around our country and what doesour government want to do? Hide the facts, for they have no legitimate reason to let gowhat they have already ignored for the past few years. Doesnt it seem inevitable that thegovernment wants to punish us or have us killed to make room for more illegals?

I cannot put an exact number of reasons I never trusted in Obama. The way he waselected was a lie, many people stating how they voted 6-10x for Obama? The way hemanipulated the system to have Obamacare even exist, was under a lie. His wife being aman? Yes. His kids adopted? Yes. He praises Allah, not our God. So, when all of his lies

from being a citizen to knowingly being from Kenya were being raised, why did you notbelieve any of it? Why did you vote FOR him? Read up on the facts now coming out.

For there are few of you who will admit to voting him in. Even most people I talk tothat did in Fact vote for him then, they are speechless now. Money is power, thats whyhe likes so much to fund-raise all the time. He snookered you in like a puppet, time for aChange was his motto..did you ever not see at least one sign of him to trust in him? Inever did, nor do I now. Facts keep coming in.

People who are standing up for what is wrong are being found murdered for theywould bring a subject of treason, killings and such? Your government of elected officialswould have a hard time trying to defend what he does, how he does it and why he hasdone what he has and hasnt done.

We have so many scandals that when they surface, they tell them they are liars? The

same Marines that defend you for your freedom are now lying? What do they have togain, except for other people like us know the truth. Know the truth behind Benghazi?Familys of beheaded victims told to be quite of how the government failed in aidingthem. You think that a Mother or Father is lying about what they were told by CIA ifthey talk? The quicker they diverted your attention about Benghazi, another scandal.

IRS, targeting victims for their choice of a vote? Yes, they did that so clumsily thateven when they tried to lie to cover it up, they opened up another can of worms lyingabout the truth. Some of the things Lerner said was a joke. To play down the serious ofher dealings within the IRS should hold her in prison a long time. Think they will? No,

because she helped Obama get elected.Lets see how about the Dept. of Justice can we rely on them? No, watch how Holder

squirmed when asked questions. Under oath, it dont matter to them the damage to us allhas been done. I still say they should be put in prison. Up to and including Hillary Clin-ton with Benghazi shows her true colors. She was fired as an intern for unethical practiceduring her time with slick Rick Nixon. He only did what they have repeated but yet noone loses a job? No handcuffs, no jail, no fines, nothing.

If you helped Obama get elected, your just as bad, for they go unpunished, by anyone.

All Pumpkin Racers must design and race their Pumpkin Racersaccording to these few important rules to ensure that the Pumpkin

Race is fun and fair for everyone.

RULE #1Craft your Pumpkin Racer using a single pumpkin.

RULE #2 Insert two independent axels through your pumpkin and attach wheels to

the axels. Spice up your racer with style.

RULE #3 You may not attach your pumpkin onto a pre-fabricated chassis of any kind

(skateboard, stroller, Tonka truck, etc., etc...) A.K.A. The "Anti-Stealth" Rule.

    RULE #4NO EXPLOSIVES or PYROTECHNICS.

RULE #5No pushing or "helping" your Pumpkin Racer on the starting line. Our Race

Officials have seen it all - the last minute shove, the hidden thumb flick, the early

release, the remote control chassis, etc. etc. See Rule #6.

RULE #6NO CHEATING. Feel great about being honest and fair. Don't be tempted

to be a Cheater Pumpkin. Use the honor system and obey the spirit of these rules. OurRace Officials have a keen eye and the CHEATER BEATER will be ready to bring a

    Racer.

    Racing Tips

TIPS FROM THE PUMPKIN RACE PROS

Be sure to read the Official Rulesto understand how to build a "legal" Pumpkin Racer.

A bigger or heavier Pumpkin Racer is not a faster Pumpkin Racer. Rarely does the big-

    gest win.

The best way to build a fast Racer is to make sure the axles are parallelso it will roll

straight down the track. This will keep your pumpkin from hitting the wall.

Make sure all of your wheels spin freely! Duh!?! And have FUN!!!!

There will be different categories to race in.

    Race #1Ages 36 Race #2Ages 7-12 Race #3Ages 13infinity

Wear and tearOsteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis,

affecting millions of people around the world. Oftencalled wear-and-tear arthritis, osteoarthritis occurs whenthe protective cartilage on the ends of your bones wears

down over time. While osteoarthritis can damage any joint in your body, according to researchers at Mayo Clinic, the disordermost commonly affects joints in the hands, neck, lower

back, knees and hips.Osteoarthritis gradually worsens with time, and no cure

exists, but proper treatment can slow the progression ofthe disease, relieve pain and improve joint function.

Osteoarthritis occurs when the cartilage that cushionsthe ends of bones deteriorates over time. Cartilage is afirm, slippery tissue that permits nearly frictionless jointmotion. In osteoarthritis, the slick surface of the cartilage

becomes rough. Eventually, if the cartilage wears down

completely, a person may be left with bone rubbing onbone.

Symptoms usually include joint pain and tenderness, stiffness upon waking in the morning or after a period ofinactivity. There may be a loss of flexibility or a gratingsensation that can be felt and heard.

The risk of osteoarthritis increases with age and womenare more likely to develop osteoarthritis, though it is notclear why. Injuries, such as those that occur when playingsports or from an accident, may increase the risk of os-teoarthritis. Carrying more body weight also puts addedstress on weight-bearing joints, such as your knees andankles. Certain occupations place repetitive stress on a

particular joint, which may eventually lead to osteoarthri-tis. Having diabetes, underactive thyroid, gout or Paget'sdisease of bone can increase the risk of developing os-teoarthritis.

If you have joint pain or stiffness that lasts for morethan a few weeks, make an appointment with a physician. While there is no cure for osteoarthritis, early treatmentcan help to reduce pain and maintain jo int movement.

Osteoarthritis symptoms can be relieved by a variety ofover-the-counter medications, including acetaminophenand ibuprofen, but too much can cause cardiovascular

problems, bleeding problems, and liver and kidney dam-age. Older people have the highest risk of complications.

Prescription medications may provide relief from moresevere osteoarthritis pain, but they sometimes carry a riskof dependence and there are side effects.

Injections of corticosteroid medications may relievepain in your joint, but the number of shots a person canreceive each year is limited, because the medication canworsen joint damage over time. Joint replacement is anoption for extreme cases. Hip and knee joints are themost commonly replaced joints. Surgical risks includeinfections and blood clots. Artificial joints can wear out, too. In the meantime, lifestyle changes and home treat-ments also can help reduce osteoarthritis symptoms. Ifyou are experiencing pain or inflammation in a jo int, restit for 12 to 24 hours and find activities that don't requireusing the joint repetitively.

Exercise can increase your endurance and strengthenthe muscles around your joint, but stick to gentle exer-cises, such as walking, biking or swimming. Lose weight.Being overweight or obese increases the stress on weight-bearing joints, such as knees and hips. Even a smallamount of weight loss can relieve some pressure andreduce your pain.

Heat and cold can relieve pain in your joint. Heat re-lieves stiffness, and cold can relieve muscle spasms and

pain. Over-the-counter pain creams for temporary relief.Pain creams work best on joints that are close to the sur-face of the skin, such as knees and fingers.

Use a cane to take weight off the knees or hips whilewalking. Carry the cane in the hand opposite the leg thathurts. Gripping and grabbing tools may make it easier towork in the kitchen. For more information, call Dr. ScottHaufe at Healthmark Walk-in Clinic, (850) 951-4556.

It's quite possible too that you'll be set a challenge that leaves you wondering if you need expert (if notlegal) assistance. An excellent period for review, for detailed work and anything that requires due dili-gence. This would also be a good time to take up mindfulness studies or yoga. Note though that you areexceptionally good at thinking 'outside the box' and that you could yet come up with solutions that leaveothers amazed.

It is probable that the past will return - though not necessarily to haunt you. It may be that there are out-standing issues to resolve before you can move forward with ease (most likely after the solar eclipse on23rd). Financial matters and, specifically, how you get along with neighbors and colleagues whose working

hours and systems may be very different to your own might require attention.

Hold the thought that you are an Aries - and that suggests you want to be free, courageous, independentand brave. Accessing those traits could be top priority this week when it seems the stakes will be very highindeed. It's not simply that there's a special Full Moon - and that you might feel you're in danger of beingeclipsed by others, but may be more about the fact that others have pigeon-holed you.

This could be an exceptionally meaningful period for you with others listening closely to what you have tosay. Anticipate recognition of your expertise. The fact that you are ready and willing to acknowledge ear-lier 'errors of judgment' will surely carry great weight.

It may be a colleague who decides it's time for them to move on. The downside of this is that you could

feel as though you've been left with everything to do yourself: the upside is that if for ages you've wantedto try out new systems, then this decision could leave you with an opening you hadn't envisaged. True, it

probably does mean that you'll be doing multiple short journeys and that your days will be action-packed.

If you haven't already begun the process of space-clearing, then by midweek this could be deemed impera-tive. True, there may be items on their way out that stir up memories and yes, you may be tempted to keepsome of these things. Yet the pull of making space for new interests should increase. There's also the strong

possibility of someone from the past returning - and with painful news. You can't 'go back there with them'.

It's probably clear that you need to go back over old ground. If it's not that apparent, then news reachingyou midweek could hit hard and you may curse yourself for not seeing this coming. Large scale dramacentered on a colleague's family is the most likely platform. It might be as well to be ready to be impacted

by this storm - and yes, this could prove costly. Assessing assets and determining how much you're willing

As you well know, sometimes you have to argue through points before you get your own way. It's likelythat a significant career development is on the horizon but that first you need to persuade certain people togive support. Holding your nerve could prove challenging. Yet you do have considerable expertise and are

probably far better at presentation and marketing than you think.

There can be little doubt that you've reached a turning point. The big question is about who you can work with. It'slikely that your independent streak has been on show for some time. It might even be that certain people don't feelthey can work with you anyway. It's likely that developments within a team will be such that you need to think verycarefully indeed about the role you can and want to play.

You could be SO ready for action and determined to see a wrong put right. It won't matter how long ago that 'wrong'occurred either. In a show of brilliant force you could make clear to all that you're not about to forget anything in ahurry and that you still want and need answers. Accountability is one thing: putting things right is another thing alto-gether, before there's evidence your voice has been heard. You might reasonably wonder how many times this battle

    has to be fought.

You may have known for some time that a group or association was coming apart at the seams. It's just possibleyou've under-estimated just how fractured things are. With strong influence from people far away who have noreal knowledge of what's going on at ground level, a mess is likely to get worse before it gets better. This could

be yet another of those periods where you ride to the rescue. The hard bit may be convincing someone you can.

Whether you're dealing with a crisis at work or at home (and perhaps, both), you may be much dependent on

good friends to ease the path. An eclipse often brings an ending so that it could be that following Wednesday youmove into a transition phase where following rules, regulations and simple traditions offers best support. Midstall this, a colleague who's 'been there and done that' could prove their weight: leaving you free before the week-end to double check that something you began last month. Get the project started now for the price goes up.

    10/12

I interviewed owner, Jos Bekkers, the other afternoon in the heart of Saltwater Steel, the workshop. Saltwater

Steel is located on the property behind the giant pirate ship on 331.

How long has your business been in the area? What made you move to Walton County? We have been here for

14 months. Saltwater Steel is a new business which started in July 2013. Ever since I was a kid, I wanted to move toeither the mountains or the beach. In the past few years, I started looking for a new place to live, a more prosperousarea, in order to survive in the business industry. That, mixed with our desire to move to the beach, landed us here. In

my search for a business location on the Emerald Coast, I found Freeport to be a very attractive location.

What does your business provide? My business provides custom fabricated metal products. I started the business

as a furniture and light fixture business and soon found out that there was a need for structural steel and other fabricated

products within the construction field. Future plans include expansion of our operation, adding new jobs to the area.

Describe your business philosophy/idea. Providing well-crafted steel products at a reasonable price.

What is most rewarding about your job; what makes it all worthwhile? I finally have a shop where I can build

the things I have always dreamed of!

What's the newest, freshest approach you are bringing to your job? We can build anythinganything from

plain structural steel to outrageous steel art. We also build many galvanized steel projects to counteract salt damage and

provide long-lasting structures to withstand the corrosive coastal climate.

Name one thing about yourself that most people don't know. I was born and raised in Holland. I have lived in the United States for 30 years.

Anything else youd like to add? I started this business because I love to make things out of steel. My initial thoughts were building furniture, light fixtures, and gates

then we found out that it would be hard to pay the bills unless you have serious production along with the fun projects. It w as nice to find out that there was such a seriousneed for other metal fabrication in the area. The boom around 30A is keeping us very, very busy. We have landed several out -of-state jobs in the lower Southern states aswell. Not only do we provide local services but we bring revenue from other states back to this area. The biggest struggle is finding true artisans who are experienced and

    creative in the metal industry.

You can see some of our work within the community. We built a custom wrought iron tree gate for the Ruskin artist colony, located in the center of Seaside. We also built

some I-beam art projects in Georgia and South Carolina. We do creative interior design objects made from oyster shells, recycled whiskey barrels, and reclaimed wood. An-other big project we have contributed to is the 331 bridge project. Forged steel handrails and spiral staircases are other projects that make Saltwater Steel stand out. You canlook at our website to see some of the other creative projects Saltwater has developed since conception. I thoroughly enjoy working with the local community. We havefound Freeport to be a very friendly and welcoming place to work. *We are always looking for skilled, metal fabricators to join our creative staff. Stop by the pirate ship on

    331 today!

    The Art of Hashtagging-Rian Lyday

I am unlike the typical socialmedia fan in that I was annoyed

by hashtags. Maybe it is the edu-cator in me that hates to see words crammed together or maybe I just couldnt see pastthe mashed up letters long enough to decipher a coherent message. In any caseI havecome to understand that hashtagging is an art. Hashtags are used as more than a state-ment but can be used to group yourself with like-minded people. Did you know there iseven a hashtag website designed to organize the worlds hashtags? Even conservativeformer first lady, Laura Bush, is an avid hashtagger. Of course, I still am a cautioushashtagger. I want my hashtags to mean something, so I started researching and started ahashtag experiment of my own. My first step was to post pictures on Instagram and tryrandom hashtags, for example, I posted pictures of my unusually large eggplants frommy garden and added #eggplantsonsteriods. When you hashtag something, it turns blueand you are able to click on the tag. I clicked on this random tag and do you know thatthere is a whole universe of eggplants on steroids associated with this tag? My next tagwas a picture of our winter garden with the hashtag #weloveourveggies. This tag led meto a community of people who do just that, love their veggies. (Yes, I too see my garden-ing trend, I just wanted to stay on the safe tagging side at first.)Hashtags have become the way for people to organize social media protests, support acause, or find people with similar likes and dislikes to follow. I am amazed at the wayhashtags can connect people. Next time you post a picture to social media, try hashtag-ging it and see where it leads. You may just stumble onto a new group of friends.#newtohashtags

Tips for the new hashtagger:Dont overuse them. Hashtags are most effective when you use them judiciously.Including more than two in a single tweet is overkill. And irritating. Rule of thumb: youonly need to tag the most important word that represents the theme of your tweet.

Be obvious. Often, the best hashtag is the most obvious one. Consider this case study:the producers of the American version of X-Factor wanted to differentiate their showfrom the original British version, so they settled on using the hashtag XFUSA. Butthen a funny thing happened: fans, of their own accord, started using the non-promoted#xfactor five times more than the official #XFUSA.

So the producers listened to their fans and changed it up, using #xfactor to promote theshow in its second episode. They saw an immediate increase in the Twitter conversationsurrounding the show.

Join a conversation. You can benefit from the power of hashtags without generatingthem on your own. Find a Twitter chat thats relevant or interesting to you by identifying

    its hashtag, and follow along.

There is a Google Spreadsheet online that lists all of the active Twitter hashtag chats, which is a great place to start browsing for topics that interest you. Alternatively, you canfind hashtag chats through Twitter.coms search, by asking your followers about anychats they might participate in, or by stumbling across one in the trending topics list. Bo-nus: If you join in a popular conversation on Twitter using a hashtag, you increase the

    likelihood that youll get retweeted.

Try before you buy. Before jumping head-first into a dialogue, its best to double-checkwhat the hashtag being used really means. Sites like What The Trend show you the top

hashtag trending topics on Twitter, along with a short description of each, how long agothis phrase started trending and when it received its description. Its worth taking the

extra few seconds to look before you leap. Dont want tomake this mistake.
