STEP: 1

Embroidery will be done on the white top cuff of thisstocking. Because of the long strands of fur, a singletarget sticker could easily move out of place.

STEP: 2

To make sure your design stays on target, use pins tokeep the production sheet on the stocking. The textdesign used here was created with KP Compositionssoftware.

STEP: 3

Hooping the stocking may not be your best option.Perhaps the stocking is narrower than your hoop, ortoo thick for the span of its spring.

STEP: 4

With embroidery tape, you can surmount thesehooping challenges. Hoop two sheets of mediumtearaway stabilizer. Make a square large enough foryour design.

STEP: 5

Then finger-press the stocking cuff into place on thestabilizer, keeping the tape just outside of the area tobe embroidered, and making sure the material issmooth and taut against the stabilizer.

STEP: 6

At the embroidery machine, move the stitching startpoint into place for the design, and remove itsplacement marking production sheet.

STEP: 7

Add an embroidery topper before you begin stitching.I suggest that a permanent topper be used.

STEP: 8

Complete the embroidery. When the embroidery isfinished, leave your topping in place while you clipany extra threads. Remove the excess embroiderytopping. You may want to leave some topper insideand between the letters to keep the lettering legible.

STEP: 9

Simply tear the stocking away from the hoopedtopping. The embroidery tape releases your fabricwithout leaving residue.
