Membership FAQ
Q. How do I become a member ?
A. Becoming a member of the Indian Youth Congress is simple. All you have to do is :
1. Get a membership form from your LRO. The format of the IYC membership
form should be same as the form available on the IYC website or the selected IYClocal units. No other formats
of the form will be encouraged or accepted.
2. Fill Up the Membership Form
3. Submit it to your nearest LRO or IYC unit along with the supporting documents.
Q. Who can become an IYC member?
A. Anyone can become an IYC member, as long as he/she is less than 35 years of
age, and is a citizen of India.Aspiring members should not be part of any other political organization, or must
relinquish their membership in
the other political organization on becoming an IYC member. Any person who has
committed a criminal offence
shall also be barred.
Q. How is Membership conducted?
A. During an election cycle the IYC puts together a network of Lok Sabha Returning
Officers (LROs) in each
state who run the membership process. In states where election dates have not
yet been announced, membership
applications can be submitted with the existing local IYC committee.
Q. What kind of Acknowledgment slip will I get ?
A. Insist on getting a barcoded receipt when you submit your membership form. The
receipt is nothing but a
tear off at the end of your membership form. Once you submit the membership
form along with the required
documents, your LRO will stick a barcode on your form and another on your
receipt. Your receipt is not valid
unless it has the correct barcode pasted on it. It must be filled out completely as
well. Make sure you keep your
receipt carefully as it it is required during voting. You will also need to produce
your receipt to get your
membership ID card.
Q. What is the Barcode for?

A. The barcode is the unique ID number that is assigned to you when you submit
your form. The barcode stickers
come in pairs. One is stuck on your membership form and the other is stuck on
your receipt. You can use the
barcode number on your form to look up your name on the voter list on the IYC
website. During elections the
barcode number will be used during voter verification.

Q. What should I take care of while filling the membership form?
A. Download a pdf of Instructions on how to fill the form.
Q. The IYC has conducted several membership drives previously. What is different this
time?
A. The IYC is streamlining its membership process. The main differences this time
are :
1. Membership forms are only accepted with Age proof and Address proof.
2. All member information is systematically being added to a members database.
3. All members receive photo ID cards with their Name, Photo, Signature,
Assembly and State name
and Blood Group.
4.The most exciting difference is that for the first time the IYC members are
electing their
own leaders at all levels in the organisation from the panchayat level right up
to the state level.
5. Unlike previous drives, there will be no active and primary members going
forward. All registered members
will have equal rights.
