We are delighted to announce that internationally acclaimed photographer Peter Marlow has been appointed to record the development of Embassy Gardens.

Peter is an expert in capturing physical landscapes and his clients include The Sunday Times and the City of London. He will take regular shots of the construction of this exciting regeneration project to capture the essence of the site in an artistic and detailed way.

As a valued stakeholder in Embassy Gardens, this will give you the unique opportunity to view the development as it takes shape over the next year. The shots will portray not only the physical construction of the buildings but also visually communicate the step by step creation of the most significant project to take place in the UK at this time.

Speaking about why Ballymore chose to capture the progress of Embassy Gardens in this way, Richard Oakes, Sales and Marketing Director, said: “The prominence of Embassy Gardens at Nine Elms on the South Bank makes it one of the UK’s most talked-about developments. We want our stakeholders to see the level of detail that goes into a project of this scale so that they can chart the progress of their new home or investment on a regular basis. Peter’s 20-year career as a high profile photographer means he is perfectly placed to do this.”

Peter will visit Embassy Gardens regularly to chart the construction ahead of the first completions there in 2015. His work will be regularly chronicled in downloadable PDF booklets available on the Embassy Gardens website.

Two significant announcements over the summer have brought even more accessible public realm space to Nine Elms on the South Bank.

July saw the official opening of the Riverside Gardens, a landscaped parkland which has been created as a ‘pocket park’, regenerating the once abandoned area to become an outstanding place for our residents to enjoy diverse wildlife and views of the River Thames.

Meanwhile at the nearby Vauxhall One, partners have appointed Erect Architecture and urban designers, J&L Gibbons to design new outdoor space there. It comes following a hotly contested RIBA international design competition which challenged architects from around the world to further enhance the public realm areas at Nine Elms on the South Bank.

The winning designs feature ‘quirky and fun’ green and sustainable measures that will create a Vauxhall Walkway and provide improvements to the Vauxhall Gardens and Railway Arches.

Both announcements dovetail perfectly with our own public realm plans at the eagerly anticipated Linear Park. Our vision will see a one-kilometre long parkland area created from Vauxhall to Battersea. We developed the concept with landscape architects, Camlins and designed it in a similar vein to New York’s highly acclaimed High Line Park. It will run through the heart of Embassy Gardens linking the east to the west of Nine Elms on the South Bank and will create a unique urban space, providing residents with open green commons and some of London’s most scenic and varied outdoor surroundings on residents’ doorstep.

Meet Embassy Gardens’ Construction Director, Peter McCallPeter McCall is Ballymore Group’s Construction Director and, with Embassy Gardens high on our priority list, regularly bases himself at the site to oversee the impressive work that is taking place there.

Updating our customers and stakeholders he said: “The changes that the next six months will bring are truly exciting for our customers. We are firmly focused on completing the lift shafts in Ambassador Building and reaching levels six and seven of the superstructures. I look forward to sharing images and details of these with you in future newsletters.”

Peter also paid tribute to his team’s efforts to date: “The prominence of this development is hard to put into words. Embassy Gardens is vast in its size and its impact, and the innate understanding of our team is evident in the standard of work being put in. Site is changing daily and we are all committed to and enthusiastic about delivering a world-class, unrivalled development here.”

Site progressThere have been many changes on site at Embassy Gardens which residents visiting the area can now see.

The lift and stair cores, two prominent features at the development, are underway in Ambassador Building. They will be completed later in the year at which time they will reach 19 storeys in height.

Other notable construction achievements include works to the ground floor decks around the site where the new Waitrose store will ultimately stand. The construction team has also commenced piling works on Capital Building.
