Anniversary Blessings
Thank you to Toni Peterson for
sponsoring the November worship
bulletins in honor of Keith.
Friends of the Risen Christ, grace and peace to you.
November already, hard to believe that this year is moving by so quickly, yet
November has indeed arrived. What a marvelous time of year this is. We get to
set our clocks back an hour, reclaiming that time that we lost all those months
ago. We have seen the first snowfalls (yes, I know that not everyone embraces
that) blanket our land with a clean palate waiting on us to paint a new picture.
Many of our feathered friends have left town as well as our human friends, to
find warmer climes to live in. The harvest has been mostly collected storing up
the earths bounty that we might enjoy its flavors and scents in the months to
come. Yards are cleaned up and put to rest a chance to recover from the hot and
sometimes wet days of summer and fall. November is a time of the year that we
all can find time for celebration, to rejoice in the things we have received.
In the coming days people will gather together in this celebration. Camps will fill
with family and friends renewing old stories and making new ones. Our kitchens
will smell of varied spices as our favorite meals and desserts are prepared, once
again to share in the bounty that surrounds us. We start the month celebrating
the Saints that have gone before us, remembering their faithfulness and
dedication. Our praise and thanksgiving is offered as we enjoy the fruits of the
harvest at a meal set as if it were for royalty. At the end of this month the
celebration continues as we offer all praise honor and glory to the one that
makes all this celebration possible, Jesus the Christ, Lord and King of all.
While we gather, celebrate and enjoy the fellowship we have the food that is
plentiful and the joy we find in our lives let us also be aware of those who may
not be able to see all the wonderful things that surround us. Be ready to come to
the aid of those in need share in the bounty that is of this earth and invite them
into communion with us. Reach out in love and kindness offering peace and
happiness to those who might be struggling. In other words, keep on doing the
good that you do and in that let us gives thanks to the Lord our God.
One whole month of celebration and thanksgiving, LETS DO THIS!
Peace and blessings,
Michael
Thank you to all that walked in the annual
Crop Walk for hunger in October. Emanuel
raised $175 dollars of the $8,546.77 made.
25% of the money raised stays for the local
St. Vincent DePaul pantries of Marquette
County and NMU’s Food Pantry, and the re-
maining helps to care for the hungry of the
world. Thank you for supporting this ministry
for hunger.
Know a family or individual who would benefit from gathering with
other adoptive/foster families? If so, please encourage them to join us
at Fortune Lake Lutheran Camp for a weekend of community building,
learning, and family time, November 1-3 for the Adoptive and Foster
Family Retreat.
Finally tackle that project that's been hanging around at Fortune
Lake's Unfinished Objects Retreat , November 13-15. We'll provide
the warm, comfortable work space with a fireplace, the camaraderie,
and the food. You bring that project, and cross it off your list for
good! The retreat runs from Friday at 6 p.m. to Sunday at 11 a.m. The
$90 registration fee includes all meals, programming, and lodging.
Registration is open now through November 7. For more information
on both of these upcoming events visit the website
www.fortunelake.org.
As part of our outreach ministry we are helping the
Sawyer Elementary School weekend food backpack
program by collecting food items that children in need
can take home food for the weekend called PAW PACKS.
The shopping cart in the fellowship hall is now our
collection vessel! Items include: packaged cereal cups, crackers,
granola bars, fruit/applesauce cups, pop tarts, oatmeal packets,
pudding cups, ramen, fruit cups. Pick up the list in the fellowship hall.
After the bazaar we will have a hat and mitten tree for those in need
of this outdoor gear. As the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons
approach, the outreach ministry of giving food baskets with a
complete holiday meal to families in need will be happening. If you
know of a family in our community in need of one, please let either
myself or Michael know. This annual outreach project is made
possible by Thrivent Grants, donations from our congregation, and
help from volunteers to shop for and pack the baskets. Thank you!

Walking Together Synod Event
You are invited to a mini-Festival of Congrega-
tional Renewal. This event in each conference
will include leadership training, address current
concerns, equip you for the future, and offer the
blessing of being church with other congregations in your area. Our
(Conference 8) gathering will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church in
Ishpeming, Thursday, November 7, 5:30-8pm, (meal at 5:30pm.)
There is no cost to attend, but having an expected count is helpful
by November 4. Talk with Michael for any questions you may have
and if you will be attending this exciting event!
Annual Holiday Bazaar and Quilt Sale
Update
It’s that time of the year again with the Annual
Bazaar and Quilt Sale coming Saturday,
November 23, 9 a.m.–2 p.m. It is a big under-
taking and it can’t get done without everyone’s help! We en-
courage you to donate homemade crafts, jams/jellies, baked
goods, and soup/sandwiches for the bazaar. The sign up for help
the day of the bazaar, donations of soups & sandwiches, bake
sale goodies, and set-up & clean-up is on the kitchen counter in
the fellowship hall. Another way to help is sell raffle tickets for
the beautiful quilt and other homemade crafts. One half of this
year’s proceeds will go towards the new roof that was installed
this past summer at Emanuel. THANK YOU again for everyone’s
help to make this year’s bazaar another success!
Anniversary mementos are still available as we continue to celebrate
the 125th year of Emanuel’s founding! They are available in the office
and are also on display during fellowship following worship on
Sundays. Cookbooks are $7, mugs $6 and several notecards depicting
Emanuel through the years and seasons are also available for $1 each.
If you would like to purchase any of these great items, or have any
questions, contact the office by calling 942-7245 or email at
You are invited to join us for our Thanksgiving
Worship Service on Tuesday, November 26 at
6:30 p.m. This special worship of giving thanks
helps us focus on the many blessings we have
received from God. We hope you can attend.

Dear Members of Emanuel,
I would like to greet you in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. I
would like to express a word of thanks for your donation of $200
to help children with intellectual disability. It was really a great
help to these children and you have touched them, and may al-
mighty God bless you all.
Your donation will help some of these children to get health
insurance since they do not have. This has been one of my
challenges because some of them have pneumonia, and other
health issues. There are 215 children and each one needs health
insurance of 50,400Tsh ($225 per year). Also some of them are
underweight and hence we have to give them food supplements
every day. This year 25 children have increased their weight and
this makes me happy.
We have repaired 4 wheel chairs and bought special shoes for
those who are not able to walk. We bought 5 pairs of shoes and
still more special shoes are needed. Each pair costs 145,000TSsh
($50). We need 15 more pairs of shoes.
These are some of the needs for these children. Also to get
money to pay for the staff who are taking care of children.
Once more, I want to say thank you very much, and I welcome
you to help us in this ministry.
