October 2015 Activities - Continued

Site Security and O&M Activities - Continued • Fawcett Engineering was on Site on October 7-8 to assist with the start-up of select FMS pumps

and the installation of a flow meter at FMS Evaporation Pond C.

Site Characterization Activities • Site-wide monthly groundwater elevation measurements were obtained October 26-27 for all

wells. • A Pit Lake water elevation of 4234.00 feet amsl was recorded on October 26, 2015 from the

pressure transducer, an increase of 0.07 feet since September 26, 2015. The pit lake elevation has risen 2.16 feet since October 26, 2014.

• Changes to the Domestic Well Program in October included new owners at DW-30, DW-54, DW-63, DW-136, DW-160, DW-169 and DW-203.

• One new residence (DW-18) was added to the Bottled Water Program and bottled water delivery was re-started to another residence (DW-107) in October 2015.

• Prepared for the 40 2015 domestic well sampling event in November. • Continued the compilation of data for inclusion in the 20 2015 Groundwater Monitoring Report

(GMR), and initiated the compilation of data for the 30 2015 GMR and 30 2015 Domestic Well Monitoring Report (DWMR).

• Performed the 40 2015 groundwater monitoring event October 5-20, which included sampling the six new wells at the B/W-63 well cluster. Samples were collected from the new wells for hydrologic tracer analyses: B34S and B180 in dissolved sulfate, and 234U, 235U and 238U.

• Continued work on the revised Geochemical Characterization Data Summary Report (DSR). • Continued to compile information for inclusion in the OU-1 RI Report, and initiated the

development of a technical memorandum titled Draft Initial Screening of Remedial Alternatives. • Continued to compile information for inclusion in the Bedrock Groundwater Assessment. • Transmitted the Draft Phase 1 Field Sampling and Analysis Plan (FSAP) for OU-7 on October 7. • Routine database management activities in support of Site investigations and monitoring.

Planned November/December 2015 Activities

Site Security and O&M Activities • Continue routine Site O&M, security and bird deterrent activities. • Continue the compilation of data for inclusion in the Hydraulic Test Report for FMS Evaporation

Ponds Band C, and transmit the report to EPA and NDEP.

Site Characterization Activities • Continue groundwater elevation and pit lake level measurements, and meteorological monitoring. • Continue the Bottled Water Program. • Complete and transmit the 20 2015 GMR. • Conduct the 40 2015 domestic well monitoring event November 3-4. • Continue discussions with EPA regarding the proposed parameter reduction list for routine

quarterly groundwater sampling, and initiate discussions to reduce the scope of quarterly monitoring report contents for the domestic well and groundwater monitoring programs.

• Continue work on the OU-1 RI Report, and discussions with EPA and NDEP regarding the development of remedial action objectives (RAOs) and potential remedial alternatives for OU-1 .

• Continue discussions with EPA regarding the OU-1 and OU-3 Human Health Risk Assessments. • Complete and transmit the revised Geochemical DSR. • Continue the development of the Bedrock Groundwater Assessment Technical Memorandum. • Review and respond to comments from EPA on the Draft Wabuska Drain (OU-7) FSAP. • Continue working on responses to comments from EPA dated March 16 on the Process Areas

(OU-3) Step-Out Characterization DSR, and the development of a Process Areas RI Report starting with a scoping discussion with EPA.
