During the pcr-iod February 3 to February 25, 1970, an Ivioc-trc-

magnetic Survey was completed on 70 contiguous claims in the Moss

Lake area, in north western Ontario - a Magnetic Survey v:as completed

on 50 of these claims. (Soo listing on cover).

The rr.ost interesting magnatic expression is located in Block

'F 1 and north-easterly to block 'G'. This largo magnetic high zone

probably represents a diorite - qu-nrtz-diorite . that ha? intruded

the Keewatin. This particular area may be important as these intru-

sives are known to occur in or near the vicinity of all locations

where metalliferous deposits have been observed in the area. Other

isolated highs are noted in the immediate Moss Lake area.

The J.E.M. Survey indicated only minor conductivity over the

enti'*ft grid system. The tx'st response is located on linos 12 and

16 E iiruni)diate?i.y north of Moss Lake. However, the location of these

ano"ialias is near a high tension line that parallels the indicated

zone, so the anomaly hore may bo cultural rathor than real.

GENERAL GEOLOGY

The consolidated rocks underlying the property are all. Pre

cambrian in age. The rocks consist of sheared meta-volcanics

intruded in part by meta-Gabbro-diorite stocks. The northern part

of the clain group has boon mapped as massive to medium grained

granite.

LOCATION AND ACCESS

The claim group is located approximately b miles southwest of

Sturgeon Lake in the Patricia and Kenora Mining Divisions.

Ontario - Contractor,

METHOD AND INTERPRETATION OF ELECTROMAGNETIC RESULTS

The survey was carried out with a J.E.M. unit, manufactured by

Crone Geophysics of Toronto, Ontario.

The J.E.M. unit is a battery powered unit employing i. coils and

operating at frequencies of IBOO and 480 C. P. S. This nethxJ is

independent of receiver to transmit! or alignmont, distance of separa

tion or elevation differences even on extremely rough terrain.

Electromagnetic readings were taken every 100' along pro-cut lines

spaced JjOO 1 apart. In areas of recorded significant conductivity,

readings were taken every 50' . High frequency readings wore plotted

on the right of tho grid line, low frequency readings on the left.

Conductivity is measured from the ratio of maximum rosultant

angles of the high and low frequency employed.

The shape and position of tho conductor can bo measured from

a profile of tho J.E.M. results.

METHOD AND INTERPRETATION OF MAGNETOMETER RESULTS

The magnetic survey was carried out with a M-'/OO magnetometer

which is a vertical field magnetometer employing the fluxgate system.

The instrument is sclf-lovallin!~, -ir.d a s*.;lf c.'a celling cirou.il

permits rapid, accurate measurement:; of Iho o arlii 1 s magnetic f:-.old frt'.'

a meter without adjustments or calculations. The instrument can bn

adjusted electronically to measure vertical fields from plus 100,000

gamma s to minus 100,000 gammas; honoo there is no nocd for auxiliary

magnets or complicated latitude adjustments.

Magnetic readings "were taken every 100' and 5 3* intervals, where

required on lines spaced 'fOO 1 apart. Base-line stations were recorded

and used throughout the survey for diurnal correction. The rca^notics

are expressed by magnetic contours on the accompanying maps.

RESULTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

Only minor conductivity was recorded near the entire grid system.

The bast recorded area is located in^r^.'Uatoly north of Moss Lalco, but

magnetic highs occur near the recorded conductivity.

The best magncstic expression appears on Block 'F 1 and tho north

eastern part of Block 'G'.

Rocotyiond ations

The areas described above should be prospected and mapned.

Sampling of sulphide occurrences could bs done rapidly and inexpen

sively utilizing a pack-sack drill, as abundant outcrops occur in

the area.
