Elysium

Current Vintage: 2013 Varietal Content: 100% Black Muscat Alcohol: 15.6% TA: 7.9 (g/l) pH: 3.22 R.S.: 17.52

Known in Europe as a table grape variety, Black Muscat (Muscat Hamburg) is one of the very few black skinned muscat grapes. The distinctive rose-like aroma of this grape led us to name the wine “Elysium”, mythological Greek for “paradise”. Lightly fortified to about 15% alcohol and aged for 3 months in small French Oak barrels, Elysium is a brilliant crimson purple with aromas of roses, hibiscus, and strawberries. Flavors of Bing Cherries and red berries encourage the use of Elysium as a dessert or as an accompaniment to desserts. Elysium pairs with vanilla ice cream, dark chocolate, blue cheese and candlelight. Best served lightly chilled. It may also be used as an afternoon spritzer with tonic, a squeeze of lemon, and ice, or as an ingredient in signature cocktails, such as a Black Muscat Sour. Recipes available on quadywinery.com.
