From "Paradise" tohell.On November 8th, two wild fires, nicknamed "CampFire" and "Woolsey Fire", which respectively ravagedthe city of Paradise and Los Angeles, in California.Camp Fire burnt more than 62,000 hectares of forestto ashes and killed 83 people. Nevertheless, theseevents are not isolated cases, in California.

Moreover, even if the exact causes of the fires werenot determined yet, the responsibility of globalwarming can’ t be ignored, contrary to whatPresident Trump thinks.

What needs to happen to make people realize it'stime to fight against global warming?

It's also time that people realize that global warmingmakes no difference between the rich and the poor:even if our abilities to react are different, theproblem is the same for everyone.

Black Friday: Planetout of stockIn the US, the Friday after Thanksgiving is Black Friday. Itmarks the beginning of the Christmas shopping season,on which occasion retailers make special offers asshoppers spend more in this period than any other.

Black Friday seems good for our wallet but as itpromotes overconsumption, it's a threat to the planet.That is why Greenpeace, an NGO protecting theenvironment, has asked to boycott this event.

Most of what we buy that day is clothes and electronics.But only 16% of electronic devices are recycled and astudy estimates that a truckload of textiles is wastedevery second.

In order to reverse the trend, Greenpeace launched#MAKE SMTHNG WEEK from November 23 toDecember2. Citizens will have to make rather than buy.Also, some companies promised to donate 15% of theirturnover to environmental organizations.

Black Friday shopping hurts the environment but everyone of us can act now.

Death of a realhero

On November 12, 2018 a hero of the Universe of popculture died: Stan Lee, the creator of many heroeslike Iron Man or the much-loved Spiderman.Stan Lee dedicated his life to the Marvel Comicspublishing house . Even after he was no longerinvolved in the writing of the latest books, heremained strongly present, regularly featuring inmany of the MCU's films.Stan Lee is a role model: starting as a simple traineehe ended his career as an ambassador for one of thelargest companies in the world.The work of Stan Lee will continue to exist even afterhis death because it allows many people to escapethe hardships of the real world thanks to heroesstraight out of our wildest dreams. Though one ofthe greatest heroes of our time is now gone, allthose having seen the day under his pen are alwaysthere to make us dream.

Black Heroes don’texist?On November 11, 2018, in a bar in the suburb of Chicago, a

man became a hero. Jemel Roberson, a security officer,managed to immobilize the author of a gun-fire which made

four injured.

The story could have ended there, but to the great misfortune

of all, that is not what happened.

After the assault, the police were called but targeted the

wrong person: seeing a black man with a weapon they shot

without any warning and killed the security agent on the spot.

Here again is a demonstration of the racism that still exists inthe USA, despite the many struggles that were waged against

it in the past.

It is inconceivable in a modern and egalitarian society for a

man to be killed while exercising his duties, simply because of

his skin color.

We then come to wonder what all these decades of fighting

for equality were for, when it is so easy for a man to be killed

without any other form of trial.

Armistice Day, just apiece of PeaceAbout 72 heads of state came to Paris as part ofthe commemoration of the Centenarian ofNovember 11th, 1918 (Armistice of World War I).All of them — except for the American and RussianPresidents who both joined the party later —stood by the French President, and walkedtogether to the Arc de Triomphe. What a nice andhonorable view, when thinking about those 18million people killed during the four years thatWorld War I lasted!But maybe the expression "beautiful staging"would be more appropriate. Indeed, Paris can't becalled the capital of peace when considering themoney spent by some of the countries, attendingthe celebration, on weapons nurturing conflictsaround the world.Commemorations seem to fail to teach a lessonabout past mistakes which ought not to berepeated
