Game NotesLast Time Out: The Golden Flyers of Nazareth College avenged one of their six losses in Empire 8 play by defeating Houghton College, 84-66, at Kidera Gymnasium on Febru-ary 3rd. The win improved Nazareth to 3-6 in Empire 8 play, leaving them one game behind the Soaring Eagles in the conference standings. Mitch Ford ’16 scored a game-high 35 points, his second 30-point game this year, and added 11 rebounds for his sixth double-double of the season. Nick Nadeau ’16 and Maurice Mills ’16 also contributed to the cause, scoring 19 and 13 points, respectively.

Big Man on Campus: Mitch Ford ’16 struggled out of the gate, leading to an 11.0 point per game average following the Golden Flyers’ loss to Hartwick College on January 9th. Since then, however, Ford has been on a tear, scoring in double-digits in each of his last seven games, including two 30-point games, and increasing his scoring average to 17.9 points per game. He also has five double-doubles in that time as he has raised his rebounding average from 5.5 to 8.4 rebounds per game.

Naz’s “Other” Big: With Ford working his way into form, it has been fellow junior Maurice Mills ’16 who carried the load for Nazareth. Mills is averaging an Empire 8-best 19.4 points per game and ranks second with 10.6 rebounds per game. Mills is one of two players in the Empire 8 to average a double-double.

Series History: Following a Golden Flyer victory a couple weeks ago, Nazareth now holds a 39-20 advantage in the all-time series. The series was tied 20-20 after a split in 2004-05, but Nazareth has won 19 straight in the series since.
