During construction cart traffic will have to access the course from the west side of the dining room. Please be alert for pedestrians using the handicap access. Foot traffic can enter through the dining room. Fundraising is stuck at $6,500. Our goal is $50,000 to obtain all the improvements we want to make. We ask everyone, whether you use the pool or not, to consider making any size donation. The B.O.D. has extended the Lifetime pool membership offer until June 15, 2016. For the price of $2,500 you get a lifetime family membership to our pool. Annual cost is $400. Family membership includes spouses, all minor children and a childcare provider. Opening day was great start, but the weather hasn’t exactly cooperated since then. ELKS GOLF NEWSInsert in the April 1, 2016, Edition of the Iowa City Lodge No. 590 Bulletin

April 1st is the official start of golf season in Iowa. Our April and May season schedule is filled with plenty of events. Get out to the Lodge participate in the following:Saturday, April 9th – Masters Pick-A-Pro event open to any and all Elk members that have a USGA handi-cap. You play 18 holes and post your net score. Then, choose a pro participating in the Masters tournament as your “teammate.” Sunday, come out to the Club and root your partner on! Lowest combined total, your Saturday net plus partner’s Sunday score, wins.Thursday, April 14th – Always popular Thursday Night Men’s League starts. Find a partner and sign-up in proshop. If you don’t have a partner, sign-up as a single and we’ll try to get one for you. You must be an Elks golf member to participate. Entry fee is same as last year at $200 per person. League is played every Thursday through August 18th.Tuesday, April 19th – Women’s golf organizational meeting scheduled for 5:30PM will meet in downstairs proshop. Bring your ideas regarding Super Tuesday formats and any other events you might like to partici-pate in.Sunday, April 24th – Spring Kick-Off event open to members with USGA handicap. Make it a full week-end! Attend Iowa’s Spring Football Game on Saturday and finish it off with a Sunday of golf.Saturday, April 30th – We will be hosting Iowa City Golf Association’s (ICGA) Two-Person Ryder Cup Tournament, a great opportunity to showcase our club

to the community. This 27-hole flighted event is open to all golfers living or working in Johnson County. Find a partner and sign-up at www.iowacitygolf.com.Saturday, May 7th – Derby Days is always one of our most popular tournaments of the year. Teams made up of A, B, C and D handicapped player are formed by proshop. Para-mutual betting, it is Ken-tucky Derby weekend after all, is available for this event. Signup in proshop and make a bet on your favorite teams. Breakfast is severed prior to play. Event is open to golf members only with a USGA handicap.Tuesday, May 10th – Ladies it’s the first Super Tues-day of the season. Format for play and other details will be decided on at April 19th organizational meeting.

Golfers maintaining an IGA handicap at our Lodge:The active score posting season for the IGA (Iowa Golf Association) region begins on Friday, April 1st. Acceptable scores made on courses within the IGA region between the dates of April 1st through October 31st must be posted for handicap purposes.The IGA invoices the Lodge based on the number of active adult golfers on our handicap roster as of the May 15th revision date. To ensure we have an accu-rate roster for IGA billing, we will deactivate any golfer that hasn’t paid their $20 handicap fee by May 1st. Please make sure you have notified us of your wish to maintain a handicap and have your Year 2016 handicap fee of $20 paid no later than May 1st.

TWO-MAN RYDER CUPThe Elks is hosting the Iowa City Two Man Ryder Cup on Saturday April 30th. To enter online go to iowacitygolf.com/2016-icga-event-schedule. The entry fee is $130 per team ($65 per person). If you are an Elks Golf Member you will be refunded $25 on the day of the tourney and if you have your own cart you will be refunded another $15.
