King Henry VIII marries Anne Boleyn on January 25, 1533. Months later, on September 7, 1533, Queen Elizabeth I is born. (Alchin)

1547On January, 28, 1547, King Henry VIII dies. His son Edward VI is left to the throne and becomes the new king of England. (Alchin)

1558On November 25th, at the age of 25, Elizabeth takes the throne as queen. She also returns England back from Catholicism to the Church of England. (Alchin)

On October 10th, 1562, Queen Elizabeth I almost dies. She suffers from a bad cold which later developed into a bad case of small pox which almost took her life. (Claire)

The Bubonic Plague (Black Death) took the lives of approximately 80,000 in England. About 20,000 in London alone. There was no cure since the cause was unknown.

1564On April 23rd, 1564, William Shakespeare was born. He’s known to be the greatest writer in English language. Also, the famous philosopher from Pisa, Italy, Galileo Galilei, was also born in the same year. (Shimmin)

Between December 1577 & September 1580, Sir Francis Drake successfully circumnavigated the world. Drake started the sail with five vessels but only Drakes ship, the Golden Hind, made the complete voyage. (Kraus)(Kraus)

The telescope was first invented by Leonard & Thomas Digges. Later in 1609, Galileo introduced it to astronomy. (Alchin)

The Tyrone Rebellion (Nine Years War) was a war based in Ireland. It lasted nine years and the fighting was over religious reasons. It was mainly Irish Catholics against Protestant English control. (Alchin)

1588On August 8th, 1588, the English fleet

defeats the much bigger Spanish Armada. The English were led by Lord Howard of Effingham, Sir Francis Drake, and Sir John Hawkins. (Alchin)

The Globe Theatre was built in London by Peter Smith. It had a maximum capacity of about seven thousand people and it held its first acts in May, 1599.(Alchin)
