Graft’s proposal for housing in the Lower Ninth Ward merges abstractions of traditional styles with modern architecture, capturing the successful compo-nents of each as a means of generating a robust whole.

The proposal is informed by the shotgun house, a traditional New Orleans housing typology, which is abstractly represented through an expressive, exaggerated, gable roof and a generous front porch. The design pays homage to the open relationship between home and community and the provision of areas designated to interaction with neighbors and friends.

Affordable and sustainable amenities are incorporated within the home, including solar panels, water collection, geothermal system, tank less water heater, permeable pavement, non off gassing paints and finishes as well as high ceilings with operable high r-value windows. The gabled roof morphs in to a flat roof, which affords a high-water safe haven in case of emergency.

City Center is a mixed-use development by MGM mirage that features buildings by several world renowned architects. The unique seventy-six acre urban resort is located in the heart of the famed Las Vegas strip and is a collection of luxury hotels, condominiums, casinos, shopping facilities and entertainment venues.

To date, it is the largest privately financed development in the history of the United States and once completed it will be the largest LEED Certi-fied project in the world.

Located at the base of the main resort and casino, on five acres, Aria, the pool deck is a lush tropical oasis in the desert. The project will serve 1500 hundreds guests and consists of separate cabanas, a res-taurant, a bar and a European pool lounge.

The individual buildings designed as a family of structures set within a landscape offer unique variation while trying unifying the overall com-position of the pool deck and resort. This is achieved through the use of a similar material palate, but formally offering unique figure-ground relationships creating a play between the monolithic forms and the panelized sections.

Located one block from the site of the new Freedom Tower, the fifty-eight story W New York houses 255 hotel rooms, 233 condominium units, a restaurant, bars, lounges and an open-air roof garden.

GRAFT uses a classic-moderist design with a “punk-minimalist” twist, animating clas-sical simplicity with modern amenities and luxurious comfort. Visitors discover subtle secrets as they navigate the space: familiar elements and materials are infused with a richness of color and material at suprising moments.

Organic materials impart a feeling of comfort, while reflective polished surfaces expand the space beyond its physical boundaries. Additionally, translucent elements allow tantalizing views into veiled spaces.

Large outdoor spaces provide a mattress-like landscape of water, dry pools and ter-races, awaiting activation by the users.

The Bahamian island of Bonds Cay is the chosen site for a private sustainable development, consisting of: a boutique hotel, restaurants, bars and private residences.

The Bonds Cay Island Retreat creates an open-architec-ture that touches down lightly, letting the island breath beneath it while also serving as a platform to both be in and experience the island.

To give the guests the experience of being immersed within the island, the sleeping suites are elevated into the canopy - a green wall on one side and ocean views to the other. Using the foliage as a privacy screen the social areas only touch the ground at the beach.

This proposal for the National Library of the Czech Republic was based on radical contextualim, where the new building relates simultaneously to its localenvironment and to the larger urban context of Prague. The project attempted to set into motion a dynamic relationship between the Prague old city, the urban topography, and the Prague Castle, opening up a dialog with the cultural and political history of the city.

The project was intended to become an important landmark for the Czech Republic in the league of similar undertakings in Paris and other world capitals. The building is composed of 4 components- the Box, the Library Landscape, the National Archive, and the Mountain. Together, these elements constitute a simultaneously public and private building, a simul-taneously micro-contextual and macro-contextual building.
