Performance CriteriaThe measure of elevator system performance is evaluated by comparing the actual response to generally accepted standards in 2 separate categories namely:
a. 5 Minute Handling Capacity expressed as a percentage (%) of total population.b. Average interval between elevators expressed in seconds (s)
Having established the population requiring elevator service, it is necessary to determine the flow rate at whichpeople will enter the building and require transportation to higher floors. This flow rate is usually expressed as thepercentage (%) of the total population requiring elevator service during a 5 Minute period, and this is known as thehandling capacity of the installation. Handling capacity is related to the building arrival rate as shown below:-
The average interval is expressed in seconds (s) and represents the round trip time of 1 car divided by the no. ofcars interconnected in the common group system and provides a criterion for measuring the quality of service asshown below:-

1. The allocated no. of elevators are sufficient to provide the efficient service to the building.

Differences between this report and the actual services provided by the indicatedequipment may be encountered due to variations in user behavior or building design which where not anticipated whenthis report was prepared.
