In Healdsburg, farmers markets mingle with gourmet restaurants, and the surrounding hills produce some of California’s fi nest wines. Th is Sonoma

County hamlet is also home to textile designer Sandra Jordon (sandrajordan.com), who creates her Prima Alpaca fabrics inside converted barns on her property. “Healdsburg is big-city chic mixed with small-town

approachability,” says Jordan of the low-key lifestyle. Th e designer frequently travels to Peru to develop her sustainably sourced collections (she will launch a

new line of textiles made from dreadlocked Suri alpaca at this winter’s Paris Déco Off ), but she is always glad to return to her everyday routine. “I love coming home,” says Jordan. Here, she shares a few of her favorite local destinations.

“To taste varieties rarely produced outside France, head for the serene hilltop setting of Copain Wines (7800 Eastside Road, Healdsburg,

707.836.8822, copainwines.com) to snag a bottle of their limited-run, single-vineyard wines.”

“The Farmhouse Inn (from $495 per night, 7871 River Road, Forestville,

707.887.3300, farmhouseinn.com) in nearby

Forestville is owned by fi fth-generation farmers,

and dinner there is always a luxurious experience.”

“Healdsburg is a remarkable synthesis of old and new. Find both at Shed (25 North St., Healdsburg, 707.431.7433, healdsburgshed.com), a cafe and bar with a market and lifestyle store housed in a

modern glass-fronted shed.”
