ARCHIVE SERIES 2005

The Archive work was born from the obsessive study of bright vitreous concretions. The sample research led me to the loss of meaning and to the mechanization of the gesture, leading me to the loss of meaning. From the wall the proliferating leaves have passed to the ground pierced by awls, the single sample that has become mass had lost the sense of exposure to the wall, downgraded is pierced and pinned to the ground.Multiplication after having stripped the meaning removes dignity. The obsession with cataloging goes very hard and leads me to create a 16sqm walland an area of 8 square meters on the ground, set up in a room where the viewer is moving in a space where the mass takes over.

Elena Armellini creates plush sculptures of small and fantastic animals, a kind of fossils, ancestral creatures with the features of harmless games. The objects of childhood become metonymies of what we have been and of our fears, our fantasies and our dreams. The young artist works by stratification: from the rough and raw matter magically emerge forgotten objects, fantastic creatures that populated our dreams and our children’s games. The memory appears nebulous and without contours: our eye has to work hard to recover its shape and reconstruct its history. Thus we find ourselves collecting fragments of our experience, digging hard sediment matrices to bring back to light the impalpable tenderness of childho-od.

URBAN SERIES

Work exhibited at Le Tese Venezia Re: public exhibition project created byHybrid & Momos Association.

The site-specific work was born from the reflection on the urbanization of contemporary cities and from the instability of current times.Urban is formed by three platforms articulated in the space that dialogue at a distance forming with the structure “atmosphere” that sustains a for-mal communication network that in some cases expands into other implodes. This work is characterized by instability.I created a world that swarms the platforms supported by improbable foundations that hold the spectator passing by with bated breath. In this setting, I also wanted to simulate the pre-announced catastrophe of the fall of the lunapark world, putting an element on the ground.Urban is the concentrate of a reflection that includes not only urban development but also the economic one in which the implosion and collapse of another correspond to the expansion of an area.

PROJECT INVISIBLE CITIES

The projects wp and behind the invisible door and city intends to expel architecture as intimate constructions, memories that trace the coordinates of a possibili-ty of living, of portable landscapes. This possibility is made through minimal elements in wood and polyurethane that work with flexibility and fragment, stabili-ty and fall.My structures evoke a mental spatiality that is memory of places, in which everyday experience manages to become empathic. It investigates space with the in-tent of obtaining a result far from the stereotype of illustration, looking for signs, traces of history and “areas of memory” that only imagination can give back to the present.
