DAY 1

Superpower: Creativity Superhero: Adam The Lord created Adam out of dust and the whole earth out of nothing. Gen. 2:7

Superhero Cape

1. Cut the pillowcase into two, on the long side. 2. Cut the double hem part at the bottom, you will use this for the mask 3. Measure the mask for the eyes 4. Cut holes at 2 end points on the sewn end of the pillowcase, and on the mask 5. Attach the yarn/string 6. Let the kids paint/color with permanent marker on the cape. 7. Put words on a board—or have pieces of paper—with Jesus is My Hero, SuperHeroes

VBS, the week’s Bible verse, etc.—make sure their name is on there somewhere 8. Lay them out to dry, if using paint...outside in the sun will help them dry quicker (kids

will get their capes the following day) 9. If not using paint, they can put them on and take them along! For Alternate Craft see last page for Alternate Craft Options for Any Day *Also—begin preparing for Day 4 craft. Take a picture of each child with digital camera and print a small picture of each child for Day 4 craft. Make sure to take a picture of any new children that come after Day 1!

Supplies: Pillow Case (try to get some king size ones for the taller kids) Yarn Paint/Permanent Markers

DAY 3

Superpower: Giving Superhero: Boy Who Gave It All Boy shares his food and Jesus feeds thousands of people! John 6:9

OPTION 1: COLOR ME FISH

OPTION 2: HERO GROCERY BAG Supplies: Paper Grocery Bags (2-3 per child if possible) Markers/Crayons Permission from local grocery store to bring in bags We are learning how we can use the Super powers God gives us this week to be Heroes for Him! Today we will decorate grocery bags that can be put out at grocery stores, as well as our own homes, to fill with food to donate for a local food pantry/distribution. OR a grocery store may just let you give them the decorated bags to use for their customers paid grocer-ies. If you don’t have a local food shelf, then ask the people in your congregation to all take a bag, fill it and then have a food distribution day at YOUR CHURCH that is open for the com-munity to come in and pick up a free bag of groceries! A great community outreach oppor-tunity for your church to use their superpower of being GIVING!

CRAFT KIT NEEDS TO BE ORDERED http://www.ssww.com/product/?sku=SD164&cmc=SRCH Permanent Markers or Paints Use permanent markers or paints to decorate these adorable stuffed fish. Help kids re-member to use their Superpower of Giving! They can have their friends autograph their fish to remember this VBS. Also, have written on the board, or paper that all kids can see, the words...Be Giving! Or Superpower: Giving. Could also put Bible reference (John 6:9).

Paint and decorate these frames. Have photos that you have taken through the week of each child. If there is a child that didn’t get their picture taken and printed, suggest to them to take it home and put a picture of themselves in the frame. Use foam letters and shapes, and/or stickers, to decorate. Spell out “Step out in Faith” or “Be a Hero”...or be creative!

ALTERNATE CRAFT OPTIONS FOR ANY DAY

These crafts will go with our weekly theme, so would work as an optional or additional craft for any day. Hero Belt

Door Hanger with Superpower/Hero Blank foam doorhangers (can order at http://www.ssww.com/product/?sku=SD164&cmc=SRCH ) Permanent Markers Stickers Foam shapes/decorations

Use the day’s Superpower and/or Superhero in creative ways on the door hanger. Kids can decorate around the words and hang on their bedroom door—remembering that day every time they open the door!

SuperHero Placemat Supplies: construction paper or cardstock one roll of contact paper or laminate sheets glue Stick photos, magazine images etc. optional craft supplies; stickers, markers, crayons etc. Directions Spell out the SuperPower of the day somewhere. The idea is to have the kids draw or find pictures of ways they can act out that superpower. Or be creative and do other things! First have your children select and cut photographs and/or magazine pictures. Attach the pictures to the paper using a glue stick. Finish decorating the place-mat with markers, stickers and drawings. Write your name with bold letters. When everything is attached and dry...cover the placemat on both sides using the lami-nate paper, following the directions on the package

See attached sheet for details—borrowed from Standard Publishing VBS ideas
