IntroductionThank you for purchasing Fakir S350 DryType Vacuum Cleaner which has beendesigned and manufactured to give youmany years of trouble-free service.

You may already be familiar with using asimilar product, but do please take time toread these instructions - they have beenwritten to ensure you get the very best fromyour purchase.

• When using the turbo suction brush resp.the electric suction brush, keep the handsclear of the rotating brush roller and takecare not to run over the connecting lead.

Only with the utilization of allfilters is your floor vacuum cleaner providedwith the excellent filter effect, particularlyimportant for allergic persons. Pollen, mitesand fine-grain dusts from a size of 0,1 areextracted almost completely. The filter effectis so good that the exhaust air of the deviceindicates a lower dust-content value thanthe room air.

The air is purified in this case as follows:a.Air with dirt particles is sucked in via the

suction hose.b.The dirt is retained in the dust bag with

extraction close-off by means of a 5-layeredfibrous mat filter.

c.The main micro-filter serves as preliminaryfilter and protection element for the followingfilter cartridge.

d.The Vario-Kombi micro-filter serves as anactive odor filter which binds the odors fromdust and dirt with activated charcoal. Inaddition, the finest particles are separatedout almost completely by a particulatematter HEPA* filter.

e.The air is suctioned through the motor.Since all particulate matter has beenextracted beforehand, no dust precipitationcan form here.

f. Only the dust-forming abrasion of thecarbon brushes of the motor is extractedthrough the exhaust-air microfilter.

g.The clean air is routed into the room via theventilation slits.

AssemblingWARNING: Prior to assembly, make surethat the mains plug is unplugged. If themains plug is plugged in, the appliancecould accidentally be switched on, resultingin injuries.

Plug the end of the suction hose into thesuction nozzle [1]. The two locks to the leftand right engage audibly. For the releaseof the suction hose, press the two releasebuttons [2].

Slide the handle [A] of the suction hosewith a slight turn into the telescopic suctiontube [G].

Insert the telescopic suction tube [G] witha slight turn into the floor suction nozzle [J].

Lift the release button [3] for the filterenclosure cover [D] and open the cover.

It engages audibly.

Lift up the dust bag holder [4].

Take off the MICRO VARIO filter cassette[5]. Remove the protective foil from theVario-Kombi micro-filter[6]. Insert the Vario-Kombi micro-filter [6] into the MICRO VARIOfilter cassette [5]. Insert the MICRO VARIOcassette together with the Vario-Kombimicro-filter into the vacuum cleaner again.Fold down the dust bag holder [4] with dustbag.Again fold down the filter enclosure cover[D] until it engages.

Setting adjustment of the suction tubelengthThe required length of the telescopic suctiontube is adjusted in two steps:

• Hold the handle [A] or the upper part of thetelescopic suction tube [G] securely in onehand.

• First hold the lower part of the telescopicsuction tube with the other hand, pressdown the slider [7] with the thumb (in slidingdirection toward the front) and then pull outthe lower suction tube [8] completely untilit engages.

• To slide the telescopic tubes together, pressup the sliders [7] and [9] in each case (insliding direction toward rear).

• Your vacuum cleaner is now ready foroperation.

Accessories CompartmentWARNING: Switch off the device beforechanging the nozzles.

Crevice nozzle, furniture brush andupholstery nozzle are housed in theaccessories compartment.

• Press the release button [11] to open theaccessories compartment. The cover [12]

opens and you can take out the requirednozzle.

• After this press down the cover [12] againuntil it engages.

• Insert the corresponding nozzle securelywith a slight turn onto the handle of thesuction hose, or onto the telescopic suctiontube.

UtilizationCrevice nozzle [13]: With the crevice nozzle,you can vacuum dirt out of deep cracks inupholstered furniture, corners, skirting, etc.

Radiator brush [14] (Optional accessory):You can insert the radiator brush onto thecrevice nozzle in order to vacuum offradiator ribs.

Furniture brush [15]: With the furniture brush,you can vacuum off dust from furniture,pictures, window sills, books etc.

Upholstery nozzle [16]: With the upholsterynozzle, you can vacuum off curtains,upholstered furniture etc. It is provided witha thread comb, which removes fluff andthreads from textiles.

Floor suction nozzle [J]: You can adjust thefloor suction nozzle with a working width ofapprox. 28 cm by using the change-overswitch [17] for the vacuuming of carpets(bristle collar retracted), or hard floors(bristle collar extended).

Hard-floor nozzle [K]: Used especially forhard-floors such as tiles, parquet orlaminate. Soft brush hairs allow the nozzleto glide easily over the floor and it picks upeven the finest dirt free of residue.

Textile nozzle [L] (Optional accessory):Used especially for upholstered furniture,curtains or garments. Perfect dust removalthrough extra-large lint and threadreceptacle, which removes statically-clinging lint and hair.

Turbo suction brush [M] (Optionalaccessory): The turbo suction brush has ahigh-performance brush roller which isdriven by the air stream of the vacuumcleaner. It brushes up the dirt from thecarpet pile and simultaneously vacuums itoff.

If the brush roller is blocked by coarse dirt,this must be cleaned.

WARNING: Never reach into the rotatingbrush roller when working with the turbosuction brush.

Manual turbo brush [N] (Optionalaccessory): The manual turbo brush has ahigh-performance brush roller which isdriven by the air stream of the vacuumcleaner.

Use this for thorough cleaning of mattresses,upholstered furniture or automobile seats.

If long threads, hair or similar should havebecome wound around the brush roller,you can remove these after opening themanual turbo brush.

Adjust the rotating nozzle setting to themiddle marker[19].

Press stop knob [20] and pull out the nozzle.

Fold up the housing part [21].

After cleaning of brush-roller, turbine wheeland belt, close the turbo brush again inreverse order.

Electrical suction brush [O] (Optionalaccessory): With the motor-driven, powerfulbrush roller, even the deepest entrencheddirt is removed from the pile of textile floorsof every type.

WARNING: Never reach into the rotatingbrush roller when working with the turbosuction brush or electrical suction brush.

OperationVacuum-cleaningEnsure before use that all filters and thedust bag are correctly inserted and are notdamaged. The excellent filter effect,particularly important for allergic persons,is achieved only with intact, correctlyemployed filters.

WARNING: Check the device and thepower cable before every use. A damageddevice means risk of injury and must notbe employed.

• Place on the required nozzle.• Pull the mains cable out with the plug to

any arbitrary length and plug it into a poweroutlet. The small MIN-LED in the display[23] flashes = Stand-by-stage

• Sensor-touch operating elements, in orderto operate the S 350 contact-free with thehand or foot.

• Switch ON [25] The first three LED's in thedisplay [23] light up = ECO stage

• Switch OFF [25] The small MIN-LED in thedisplay [23] flashes = Stand-by stage

• Increase the suction force with the Plusfield [24]

• Reduce the suction force with the Minusfield [22] > According to the suction forcewhich is set-adjusted, one (MIN) to five(MAX) LED's light up in the display [23].

NOTICE: If the device is switched off for abreak, with switching on again it startsautomatically with the last set-adjustedsuction force (memory function).

The suction capacity can also be adjustedwith the suction controller [26] on the handleof the suction hose. Use this controller(slider) only for short-term reduction of thesuction capacity. For normal suction,however, you should keep this closed.

Use the Minus field [22] for the permanentreduction of the suction capacity. Saveenergy.

NOTICE: Filter change indication [27]: Incase of full dust bag or filters, as well aswith clogged up accessories (hose, tube,nozzle), the filter change indication lightsup. In this case, replace the dust bag and/orthe clogged up filters (see Page 14) orremove the stoppage.

In case of utilization of the turbo mattressbrush or the crevice nozzle, it can be thatthe filter change indication lights up beforedust bag or filter are full. This depends ontechnical conditions and does not representany impairment of function.

Device plug connection [28] in the fingergrip of the handle for the connection of anoptionally available electrical suction brush.

Suction tube storage position withautomatical suction disconnection

Use the stowage holder in order to securelyretain the suction tube during breaks. Forthis, insert the stowage holder [29] of thefloor suction nozzle into the nozzle holderbracket on the rear of the device; the motoris switched off automatically in this case.

After vacuumingWARNING: Carry out the following stepsas soon as you stop vacuuming. Neverleave the device unattended.

• Switch off the device using sensor field[25]. The small MIN-LED in the display [23]flashes = Stand-by stage

• Pull the plug from the power outlet.

Cable winder with automatic returnsystemPull briefly on the cable - it is automaticallypulled in and rolled up. Guide the cable inthis case by hand, until the cable iscompletely pulled in and the plug is in itsposition.

Ergonomically shaped carrying handle [C]for secure carrying (transport) of the devicewith complete accessories, such as suctionhose, telescopic filling tube and nozzle.

For this, insert the stowage holder [29] ofthe floor suction nozzle into the nozzleholder bracket on the underside of thedevice.

Place the vacuum cleaner for safekeepingat a location inaccessible to children.

ATTENTION: Do not place the device nearheat sources and avoid direct solarradiation. Heat can damage the vacuumcleaner.

Changing dust bagWARNING: Before you begin withmaintenance and cleaning, switch off thedevice and pull out the power plug. In thecase of inserted power plug, the devicecould be switched on by mistake and causeinjuries.

NOTICE: Use only original Fakir filters. Onlyin this way can the excellent filter effect ofthe vacuum cleaner be retained.

• Press the release button [30] for the filterenclosure cover [C] and open the filterenclosure.

• Version 1: Dust bug with plastic plate andhygiene disposal cover: Close the dust bagby means off the hygiene disposal cover[32]. Lift the dust bag holder [31] andremove the full dust bag in the indicateddirection.

• Version 2: Dust bag with paper plate andhygiene disposal ledge: Lift the dust bagholder [31] and remove the full dust bag inthe indicated direction by means of thedisposal ledge [32a] - thus the filter openingis closed.

• Insert the new dust bag completely into thedust bag holder [31] and close the filterenclosure cover until it engages.

Filter enclosure cover close-offThe filter enclosure cover close-off [33]prevents that the device (sucked) can beoperated if no dust bag is present or if thedust bag is incorrectly inserted.

Changing main microfilterOpen the filter enclosure, remove the dustbag and fold up the dust bag holder asdescribed in the chapter on "Changing dustbag".

• Fold out the grating [34] of the MICROVARIO filter cassette.

• Replace the main micro-filter [35] and closethe grating securely again. Alternatively,you can also take the filter cassette fromthe filter enclosure and then replace themain micro-filter.

• Insert the dust bag again and close thefilter enclosure.

NOTICE: Change the main micro-filter, atthe latest, after the consumption of 5 dustbags.

Changing Vario-Kombi micro-filterOpen the filter enclosure, remove the dustbag and fold up the dust bag holder asdescribed in the chapter "Change dust bag"

• Take out the MICRO VARIO filter cassette.• Remove the old Vario-Kombi micro-filter

[36] from the filter cassette and insert thenew one.

• Insert the MICRO VARIO filter cassettetogether with the Vario-Kombi micro-filteragain into the filter enclosure.

• Insert the dust bag again and close thefilter enclosure.

NOTICE: Change the Vario-Kombi micro-filter at least every 6 – 12 months.

Alternatively, you can also use the followingfilters, which are available as optionalaccessories:

• HEPA filter• Active odor filter

Changing exhaust-air micro-filter• Press the side release button [37] and open

the filter covering [F].• Remove the old exhaust-air micro-filter [38]

and insert the new one.• Re-insert the filter covering [F] precisely

fitting and close it until it engages.

NOTICE: Change the exhaust-air micro-filter, at the latest, after the consumption of5 dust bags.

WARNING: Switch the vacuum cleaner offand pull out the power plug before youbegin any cleaning and maintenance. Thisprevents the device being switched on bymistake.

CleaningDo not use any cleaning agents, abrasivesor alcohol. These damage the casing.Clean the device dry only or with a moistcloth. You can also clean the filter enclosurewith a moist cloth, as required. Checkvacuum accessories, such as hose, tubesand nozzles, regularly for possible cloggingand clean; where appropriate, rinse anddry.

If the device should not work satisfactorily(decreased suction capacity, unusualnoises or failure), first check whether thefilters are full or clogged, and whethersuction paths have clogged up.

DispatchCarry the appliance in the original packageor a similar, well-padded package toprevent damage to the appliance.
